    I like it.

A few adverts, but nothing to intrusive.

The adverts appearing even when logged in on it are a bit of a pain compared to the main site, but at the end of the day less than 200 people were using the app for the old site. It costs the site money to have the apps so they should pay for themselves and adverts are the obvious way (as the whole point is it's a free site the only alternative is the main site subsidises them and money is taken away from the running of that).

It's better than I remember the old app being though. This one you can see the content of the thread before loading it (like when you hover over the thread on a computer). The quick reply option most of us use to post on the site is there at the bottom of the thread the same way that on twitter there's the bar at the bottom to type in. Oh, and not that it helps you lot, but the mod functions seem a lot easier to find/use on it than on the old app (although I suspect PLT probably knows more about that than the rest of us).

I view the site on a pc, a Samsung Galaxy 5 and an ipad Air. All of those I use Chrome and honestly it's fab on each device.

Seems very well optimised for various platforms.

I like the way you just click on the the post to quote.

It's definitely better then the old one. It hadn't been updated in 3 years.

I thought a app was a no because not enough people used it to justify the cost?

That's why there's adverts. It's probably one of those where the users of the app alone don't really justify the costs, but the loss of those users that only use the app would harm some forums more than others. We'd be fine because of the number of people we have on here, but if a quiet forum lost 1 or 2 regular users it could kill them off.

    Ah that makes sense.

I've always wondered why certain clubs forums are busy, like ours, QPR, Sunderland and Newcastle and others busy and others like WBA, West Ham and Man City are dead?

Just the nature of the site. It was set up long before it happened, but the BBC closing 606 is what made most of the busy forums on here busy. When it was announced though there were a few sites all started in response so some clubs went to those instead.

Only just got this new app. Looks good. Acid test will be Monday; will my battery last a full day at work while browsing not606? It struggles when I use the browser.

There's a dark mode on it, a bit like night mode on your satnav. I suspect that will be good for battery life as most of the screen won't be lit for it. It'll also be better for travelling fans as the phone will give off less light when they're on the coach or in the car (good for others around them) and by having the darker screen it won't be quite so painful on the eyes to be using it as you're travelling and it's dark.
