It all boils down to a power struggle between north and south best summed up as the muslims live in the north and until recently the prime minister was always one of theirs until the 2010 election(?). One are has more than the other so fair dibs all round, bit like northern and southern Sudan.

Bugger me. Live and learn. If there`s gelt to be made I`d expect their involvement somewhere but didn`t know that.

Mad init? Watched a documentary on bbc 4 on it. Most of diamond production and distribution is actually commissioned work too. So the value of millions of diamonds sold in jewelers all over the west is small fry compared to the value amount of behind closed doors privately designed and made pieces. These businesses in Hatton garden, you'd expect Tiffany like stylish shops. But they actually look like old offices with old wooden library reference card filling cabinets from floor to ceiling and all the diamonds are filed in envelopes. It's mental.

Women have a spend gland mate and in most of them it`s over active. It can be kept in balance with regular injections of `sterling` (chemical symbol £). There is no known cure.

Nothing sinister about Jews running the diamond industry as it is pretty much a closed shop and almost a brotherhood consisting of people you know you can trust through dealings. Diamond cutting and polishing are the skills that make the most profit, providing the stone is cut perfectly and can take up to six months work to get it right, something not to be trusted to an outsider as a huge amount of profit or loss is made from just one stone.Get it wrong and 20grand is out the window.

The Arabs in the gold souk in Dubai will soon invite you into their workshop where they make jewelry and can knock a piece out in two days. Not high end but a fraction of the window price and in most cases just as good.

'Aussie Mikes' is the place to go in the Gold Souk... I've been a customer since 1991.
Got my wife a 22ct bracelet costing £297.00 and when I got hone I had it valued at £1,100
They just treat gold the same as sausages out there.. Its all about the weight regardless of the time / skill and effort that goes into making what you want.
Great fella... Loves us 'Brits' !

I'm fairly sure they don't treat gold the way they treat sausages out there <laugh>

The jews don't control the diamond market, that's de Beers, a company with its origins in Zimbabwe. If you come down Hatton Garden in London you can see the diamond centre at work and it's mostly run by jews, but just as it's good business!

Bought a **** load of Saudi gold when I was there years ago, well, my ex-wife did. When we got back, most reputable dealers wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.
