Frozen is one of the greatest films of all time and that my friend is a fact.

When was despicable me 2 made? If it was 2014 that's won hands down.

Don't let my 4 year old grand daughter hear you say that. It would be taking your life in your hands.
Though, to be fair to it, I don't think you were in their target audience. And, given its commercial success ?I think they will manage to curb their disappointment of your dislike of it.
On a positive note it did make shopping for Xmas presents easier.

I didn't get the hype about Frozen, aside from all the 'in crowd' young people singing along, I watched it from start to finish and it just wasn't that good. I went into it as a neutral, when it first came out (it wasn't the behemoth it is now back then). Nowhere near as good as Toy Story, Monsters Inc or Up. The kids seem to enjoy the songs, but it just struck me as mediocre. My nephew enjoyed it somewhat, the little snowman with the stereo-jew voice was his favourite.

Stopped paying attention to the Oscars at that time when Tom Hanks was winning every year

He's won an Oscar twice out of 5 nominations. His last nomination was in 2000.

At least have a factual reason...

Doesn't look like it's going to be Leo's year again <laugh>

Mind you, he'd have to act in something recent to be nominated.

Everyone moans about Leo never winning an Oscar, but what about Gary Oldman? He's equally deserving and hardly even nominated.

Oldman is a very good actor but Di Caprio not winning one is just insane. He is brilliant in so many of my favourite films. Catch me if you can is one of my all time favourites and I re-watched Inception last night for about the 6th time.

I can't think of a bad film he's made tbh. The two you've mentioned, The Departed, Blood Diamonds, Shutter Island and ofcourse Wolf of Wall Street off the top are just brilliant.

Looking at the list I'm surprised how few of them I've seen. I've not been for a couple of weeks but I've seen 30 films at the cinema in the last 3 months, and that's a pretty typical amount for me (I have an unlimited ticket, and only working 4 days a week I usually see 2 or 3 on my day off during the week). There do seem to be a lot for films that are out now though, 3/5 from the best actor category.

There was an article I read today saying that just about no one has seen these movies. This list holds the record for the least watched box office total Oscar list since the Oscars went to 9 movies in 2009. The 2011 total was 300 million, this time the total is only 200 million.

I cant even remember the last time I thought the best picture winner was the best picture that year. The most enjoyable (not necessarily the best) movie this year that I have seen was probably Only Lovers Left Alive.

Saw 'The Theory of Everything' last night. If Eddie Redmayne doesn't get best actor I'll be crying 'Foul'!

I really dont get the fuss with Inception, i thought it was dogshite. I saw it before all the hype and came out of the cinema thinking 'all that fuss about getting in to another country, I'm sure a fake passport wouldve been easier'.

Agreed. He's massively versatile, never seems to play a similar role twice. I've been a fan since The Firm.

Inception is alright, but for films by Nolan that mess with your head, Memento is much better IMO.

It's not really a surprise, American Sniper has only been released today so that alone will start upping the list. Looking back at my stat as well, we're up to 4/5 of the actor nominations that are for films out now, and if Imitation Game is still at the cinema it's actually all of them. You can't tell me that in the whole year the 5 best acting performances were all in films that came out in the last month or so.

There hasn't been a "great" film since the original Jaws.
