Hull are close to agreeing a fee with Blackburn for striker Rudy Gestede, Sky Sports understands. Negotiations are ongoing between the two clubs with the potential deal thought to be worth in the region of £4.5m. Gestede, 26, has scored 25 goals in 50 appearances for Rovers since joining on loan from Cardiff City in 2013. The French-born Benin international joined Rovers permanently in January 2014.

I'm glad as we need a striker to tide us over til Jelly and Abel return, it's also good to have some depth, and judging this purely on his height, he looks as though he could fit into our hoof it playing style. But is anyone really excited by this? Blackburn fans don't seem to rate him all that highly, they don't think he'll keep his goal rush up. Is he technically good? Can he hold up and play team mates in? Is he a beast in the air? Or is he just some big lumbering Luciano Becchio type donkey in a purple patch? Has anyone actually seen him play much and paid attention to him? I guess £4.5m isn't all that much to gamble on a currently goalscoring striker, it's actually a very good price, if we get him there's not much to lose and everything to gain.
i suppose for the money its worth the investment , he will have a shot at securing a start for at least 6 weeks and if it all goes badly wrong for city , he is at least proven in the championship and worth hanging onto where others may be unfeasable my concern is he is so far a 2014 wonder and nothing much else
26 6ft4 good in the air, in form sounds like a good gamble to me. If we can get someone to do his running and he spends the majority of his time in the opponents box looks like a win win.
He seems good in the air from the videos of him. Im not jumping up in down in excitement but at least we know he can score in England that's a positive. It's strange that Blackburn fans don't rate him, if we had a striker with that return rate you bet your ass we would rate him. This predictive text is ****ing annoying is there a way to turn it off?
Not excited by this striker at all. If we were to sign him as a 3rd or 4th choice striker and had Jela & Abel fit, fair enough.. But this guy will have to be our main striker for roughly the next 2 months. We need a striker who can definitely score goals at this level, not possibly or likely to score.. WILL score.. Our survival is counting on it. I know its easier said than done, but surely we can do better than this.. If we're going to take a punt on a Championship striker why not go for Rhodes again or Deeney? a player or two plus cash perhaps? Aluko, Sagbo, Brady, Bruce, Figgy etc?
