I agree. To be perfectly honest, I'd be happy if only Adebayor and Kaboul left in this window. Soldado and Paulinho offer a lot when they play. Paulinho further up the pitch does good work. Wouldn't like either to go. I still think Soldado offers class in ways that not other players do. He will find the net more with the right players around him. Lennon is still a player who can make us look a threat when he plays. His pace could have been used to counter Zaha in the Palace game for example.

I wonder if Dier is ever going to get time playing as a CB and if he'd be any good there.

Your casual comment with Bentaleb gone!!! Gone! You do realise I had to google to make sure we hadn't sold him.

    Tut tut RWAEB! :emoticon-0105-wink:

Actually only recently. They've won the title as many times as Spurs including in 1960 and around that time they were in the top division for more than 20 years consecutively.

I see your point. I’d have a similar reaction <sorry>. At least it wasn’t as bad as my link to the "Spurs’ Parker Out," story a few years ago, though. :emoticon-0102-bigsm

I remember seeing that one crawl across the ESPN screen, and my first reaction was, figures, right after Sandro goes out for the season. Then I thought, it’s strange they have PL injury news crawling across EPSN’s main site, they don’t usually do that...and then...Don’t the San Antonio Spurs have a star player named Tony Parker?

Eriksen and Soldado are the two players who give me real confidence when they’re in control. They’re the two who have the combination of technique and decision making that makes me think we aren’t going to give the ball away cheaply and are likely to create a good chance.

Paulinho and Dembele are good in attacking roles but not farther back, where they’ve spent most of their time. Dembele is a strong DM, but just will not get the ball forward quickly the way Stambouli did in the buildup to the last goal yesterday. Paulinho’s tackling is iffy and he dribbles too long and passes too late. But farther forward Dembele gives defenders headaches with his ball possession and Paulinho has the useful ability to get the ball into the back of the net, and presses and harasses well.

I’d like to hang on to Lennon as well, don’t get me wrong, but I’m convinced he’s on his way out.

If we were to sell Kaboul, would people like to see a direct replacement brought in or would they be happy with what we've got?
The same question probably applies to Naughton, who appears to be on the way out.

Veljkovic has returned from his loan at Boro, due to a lack of football, so he might be an option.
We already have Vertonghen, Fazio, Chiriches and Dier, though only one pairing has looked even halfway decent.

Should we be looking to bring someone in now or should we wait and spend the money when there's no January-tax?
We've been linked heavily with Winston Reid of West Ham in the past couple of days and he's free in the summer.
The same is true of Ron Vlaar of Villa and Fabian Schar of Basel, though Swiss centre-halves probably don't have the best history in the Prem.

I would just like a player that can improve the first 11.
Real money spent to show we have ambition.

I wouldn't replace either. Yedlin is replacing Naughton and i'd like to see Dier given more minutes at CB instead of Kaboul

Sorry to be a bore but I think it's time the big money transfers came to an end, not just for us but for all clubs. The figures touted for Messi are just ridiculous. I wonder if any club has the courage to lead the way by announcing it.

I'd like a new CB brought in. Fazio doesn't convince me yet where as one of Kaboul and Vlad (possibly both) are bound to leave. I've mentioned before that someone like Shawcross - despite having the reputation of being a bit of a dirty bastard - would be good. He's a warrior and knows how to defend well in the Prem.

Reid on a free is very good business but I think waiting 'til the Summer will increase competition for his signature ten fold and he'll look for big money.

A CB who could be a decent option is Simon Kjaer, a few years back he was touted as potentially being one of the best in CB's in Europe, he then joined Wolfsburg where things didn't work out and a loan to Roma also left him with a bad experience but since he's joined Lille he's been reaching the sort of form that once made him a player that the likes of Utd, Chelsea and City were all looking at in his Palermo days. A risky move but if he reaches potential you've got a top class CB. Could work well with Jan, plus Eriksen can help him adjust and settle to English life.

We have Yedlin plus the option of Dier for the RB spot (Vlad too if he stays) so I don't think Naughton will need replacing. He's not played in a while now anyway and he's not been injured.

I really don't rate any of our CBs... So would get rid of Vlad & Kaboul and get Moreno in

Yeah, for sure all our CB's have glaring weaknesses. We need to toughen up in that area, IMO. If we can get him, I'd go for Winston Reid. A Tough, no nonsense sort of defender that we need.

Zeki Fryers has gone to Rotherham on loan. Rotherham ? Blimey, his stock really has taken a tumble.

Poch has said that he is happy with the squad and very much doubts there will be any incomings or outgoings this month. He has stated any influx in his squad will be from the youth set up.

Will Levy, Baldini and Mitchell have different ideas i don't know ? Poch isnt going to publicly declare that he is unhappy with his squad.

Its so difficult to bring the right players in for the right price in January so i think we will have to wait til the summer.

Paulinho and Capoue were decent the other night and we still have the exciting Yedlin to look forward too.

I predict it will be 1 in and 1 out this month. Yedlin in and Naughton out.

Lets hope this window wont be an opportunity missed and we have enough quality to win a trophy and finish in the top six.

Can not see Yedlin featuring much till next season.

Think he's was bought in early to acclimatise himself by training with the team and playing mostly U21 team.

Is that you Hengy from Ja606?

Im not saying i would start him but Id like to see Yedlin make appearances from the bench. Bring him in gently let him acclimatize to the English game with 15-20 min cameos at the end of games. His electrifying pace would also be a great weapon against tiring opponents

Will Hernandez be unhappy with his lack of opportunity at Real Madrid? (Only 8 appearances many as a sub) Perhaps. Can he be persuaded to return to the Prem league? Perhaps. Would Levy be willing to fork out the funds to get him. Probably not unless we could unload Adebayor and possible Soldaldo (though i'm still not sure about him) to raise the funds. A tricky, quick, mobile striker who I think would be an ideal foil for Kane's more direct approach. What do you think

I've always liked him and couldn't understand why he never got more playing time at Utd. Maybe Fergie just saw him as Solksjaer mk2?

Anyway, Yes, at a reasonable price I'd love to have him.

    Yes buddy, you on there?

Yea I'm a big Yedlin fan as I watch a lot of the MLS.

Think maybe will see him March onwards as by reports was way of the pace at the recent u21 game he played
