There, Ive said it I really couldnt care if we sell him aslong as we brought in a good replacement. He will be going away too the African Cup of Nations for the next 2 season missing 1-2months each time and could come back with an injury and he also has a terrible previous injury record missing a whole season when he was at Udinese. He drifts in and out of games and although I like him because of his energy I think we could get far better for say 20million if that is what we sold him for. I also have concerns about him living up here. Hes clearly not happy about no winter break meaning he cant see his family so I dont think he will stick around for another 2 seasons anyway. Im not wumming here just stating my feelings towards Gyans sale, theres better for cheaper, so if we are selling him, get rid now and bring someone in before the start of the season!
i have always said its not players leaving that pisses me off its the manner of it. Bent dropped us in the ****e big time. If Gyan wants ourt and we can net a sizeable sum (I'd slap a 30m price tag on him now) then we can bring in replacements. As I have just said on another thread, for 30m we could get Shane Long, Kevin Doyle, Alan Hutton AND Nico Krancjar? If O Shea comes in as well, then for me, I'd be ready to start the new season with that squad alone.
IMO Kevin Doyle would be a very good signing, whether or not everyone would agree is another matter; Im not sure about shane Long though, everytime ive seen him he has been poor and for that price I wouldnt sign him. Nicky Maynard at Bristol City is probably better than him i would say (who i also wouldnt sign).
Although i did just sign Shane Long on FM yesterday for 4 mill in January for Birmingham and in his first game he scored 2 v Blackpool followed by 1 v Bolton before going off injured before half time. I hope hes not injured for too long!
Seconded.... Cest says £30m, well if thats the price they put on him, he'll be going no-where, Reckon £18-20 tops, if he wants to leave, and SAFC are willing to let him go, But do it now, and get it over with.
He got 13 in the 2006/7 season which is good going for a first year in the premier league. He can also Header, hold up the ball and finish. How is that not what we need?
While we can slap whatever price tag we want on him, do we know if he has an escape clause in his contract (seem prevalent these days) allowing him to go if the bid os of a certain level... where is Big Chris when you need him, he could have a shufty in SBs office and have a read of the contrat for us!
Doyle is a fantastic player, it's not just about goals. He brings others into the game and hold's the ball well, in a Kevin Davies kind of way, with him, Gardner would get plenty of lay off's to run onto. Add to this that the service from Sess and Seb would be better than he's used to (although Jarvis puts a great ball in), and he'd likely get more chances, and therefore more goals.
your all missing the point though, without Gyan a big name signing, it wold be harder to attract other stars, how many season tickets were sold because people wanted to see him play, how many stars do other teams have in them, now wonder why their attendances are low is it because no stars and no excitement, and better players come because we have better players than the alternative. Its a merry go round. I laugh at guys who say would never come here, when a good name is mentioned, nobody wants to play in a mediocre team they all want stars in them, so more people watch so they can demand more money. So this sell Gyan ****e should be put to bed now. He has already said in interview he wants to stay, enjoy it while it lasts.
Its mandatory in the leauges such as Liga BBVA where the 19 clubs that dont win the league have too have a minimum fee release clauses for their players. It doesnt happen over here i think.
whats the point in having someone who will miss 2 months of the season guarenteed. We might aswell have a team of circus freaks because then people would come and see us play! He clearly doesnt want to be here and was ****e for the majority of last season. Hes looking for a way out and now his ghana friends are gone he will be going soon enough anyway. We might aswell sell him now, rather than have a striker who misses 2 months of the season and goes in the summer anyway too bring in a player who will be available for all 38 games!
Read the above, that's the point, and when he is away it will give the likes of Dong Won, Whickham, Colbeck and others the chance to shine, it would be the same if he was injured, he wont play every game, and a big squad needs to rotate people off form replaced with players up for it look at Bardo when Hutton was here look at Jordans loss of form through injury everyone wanted him replaced.
I find myself agreeing with One Chance Asamoah. (although he'll have to change his user name afterwards) Think there is more to it, and he is trying to manufacture a move away. Where to i don't know, cos he's not good enough for any of the big boys in the prem, they all have better, so Spurs is about as high as he will go. Maybe he will go over-sea's. And he has a valid point about the ACN, for the next TWO years.
Are these facts or your assumption, i find no basis for your assumption's when clearly he has come out and said this week he will play better for us this year. Show me the article that says he wants to be away. All the big teams have overseas stars who are away for internationals etc, by your own words you would say no to Suarez as he will be away, see assumptions aren't good without facts to back them up.
