I Cork was worrying about whether he would get many minutes, he has no need to panic now. Go on Jacky boy !
The Newcastle match will be our acid test I think. If we win or draw, it will mean we're strong enough to go the extra yard.
Well that was a stinker. Worse than the United match and that's saying something. Feel sorry for those neutrals, but as a Saints fan I can only applaud the efforts of our players and the leadership of Mr. Fonte who takes away two MOTM awards and deservedly so. I thought Reed was excellent without the ball and did an great job of winning the second ball or at least making it awkward. He has some work to do with the ball as their were a few mis-placed passes, but we were all saying that about one of his midfield partners last season. Big Vic looked like he was playing the more box to box role with Reed sitting and that could have accounted for his hammy giving way Would have liked to have seen Targett get forward more and take on his full back. Think he was a little too safe, but then that will come with confidence. Tadic made some odd decisions when in great positions and was wasteful when he could have put the game to bed. No doubting his talent but there is plenty for him to improve on and i'm confident he will in the coming seasons. Will be interesting to see what Koeman does on Saturday. Reed has only ever played with a three at the back, but I don't think that suited Bertrand very well as part of the three and we missed his energy as a wing back
If someone had offered me injuries and win against no injuries, no fatigue and Ipswich to have gone through last week, I would have taken the latter, I think. I may think differently tomorrow.
I googled that and came up with orthopaedic articles on short leg syndrome and leg lenth discrepancy.
The best part of this week is that you can guarantee that all the Liverpool fans have seen Fonte hardly breaking sweat for 2 clean sheets and looking like the world's best centre back................like the one they bought. ha, ha. He was massive tonight, even Lawrenson was drooling.
