The man oozes with class. I still think he'd have finished his career with us if a top 4 club never came calling.

And as per usual the same "apologists", "club kiss-arsers" and the like come trotting out their snide, mundane, mindless put-downs of all those that point out matter-of-factly where the powers that be have once again not "acted in the clubs best interest".

Only this time there's such a gap between what they got and what they should have got, between the promise and the pay-off, that a pissed monkey could drive a bus through it and only the serially blind can still refute the facts.

Being persistently blind drunk on the club's cool-aid is no way to go through life.

Is it really that hard to see?

Tell me, how many times has Man City won the League in the last 10 years, now how many times have they won the FA cup in the last 10 years, now how many times have they won the Champions League in the last 10 years.

I will even do the leg work for you.
    League = 2
    FA Cup = 1
    Champions League = 0

Wonder what odds a betting site wouldgive for us to actually get that money, may be worth a punt don't you think.

Tell me Phil, you want to sell a car for £3,000. If someone came along and offered £2,500 would you take it there and then, or would you negotiate?

Now if you would sell it there and then, then thank god your not on the board, as that would be the worst possible outcome of the whole transfer.

If you would have negotiated, I would still pay you £2,500 and will give you a further £300 if I haven't broken it within the next 4 years.

Will you take that deal? Or would you tell me to **** right off.

Me personally, I would meet somewhere in the middle of the 2 valuations, a nice £2,750. All money up front, every one wins, we get near enough our valuation, they get near enough theirs. There is no stupid performance payments to be had.

Now if they were restricted to £25m, a deal could have been had to pay another £3m later on, or if they won the Prem, but not all 3 bloody tournaments, and not with a minimum of 60% games played.

The board have dropped the ball on this one.

And for those telling me its still a good deal, please tell me, do you own a business, if so, please give me the details, might make a fortune off your generosity.

How are we second or third best? Comparing it to selling a car is so off the mark because there is much more involved than a simple handing over of an item for cash. The car doesn't have an agent and doesn't have any demands of its own because it's an inanimate object. You also don't usually get payments in future depending on performance. I'm sure most chairmen wished it was that simple.

Was our valuation off at £30M? That's up for debate I guess but I think it's about right. We then got almost what we wanted, just a little shy in terms of our Club's current earnings and the money sloshing about in the Prem.

Sorry to see him go but happy with the money. I guess I'm happy for my Club to do so badly in the transfer market. What a terrible track record.<laugh>

    Imagine....
Dai bought a house in the 1970s for £30k.
He's done some work on it, the market has gone up, there's a lovely sea view of the Loughor Estuary and now houses like Dai's are changing hands for £250k.
That's bye the bye though as Dai doesn't want to sell and has no money worries.

Then an Englishman looking to retire swings by one day on holiday and says to himself, "that one! that's where I want to see out the rest of my days...Dai's house!".
He knocks on the door, speaks to Dai and family, as he leaves he offers Dai £200k...."take it or leave it, I'll be gone tomorrow though so sleep on it and get back to me before breakfast with your decision, here's my no."

Dai phones back in the morning and tells the Englishman he accepts his "generous offer" and punches the air as he puts the phone down.
He goes down the pub to tell his mates about his "windfall". Everyone at the bar begins to laugh at Dai. "What!? I only paid £30k for it!....that's £170k profit, the most profit I've ever made on a deal in my life!"
Everyone replies "Yes Dai, but you should have got at least £250k".

Dai replies; "You show me where somebody offered me £250k!!! The deal is the best ever and if you cant see that then you need to see a shrink

    "
....Dai walks out, laughing maniacally to himself.
Everyone in the pub looks at each other in stunned silence before pissing themselves laughing, they begin the celebrations (as they are now a village "missing" it's idiot).

Comparing it to selling a car is right on point. And valuations are not up for any debate if your willing to look at real data. A car is worth what the market says it is worth and the first thing you do to determine price is to do a comparative analysis, you look at other cars of the same make and age or as close as possible to your car and look at their condition and performance and you make an assessment based on what others have paid for those cars.

To keep it simple, let's look at goal scoring alone:

Lukaku has scored 21 in 52 league matches = 21/52 = 40%. Bony 95 in 195 league matches = 95/185 = 49%. Bony was the top league scorer in 2014. Lukaku was bought for 28 million. Bony was bought for 25 million plus 3 million of undisclosed performance related add-ons. We under-priced the base based on relative performance and agreed to a nonsensical undisclosed performance payout triggered by what exactly. And this is based on Lukaku not the other forwards that have been transferred for ridiculous amounts in the last year. So using Lukaku as fair market value for goal production as a comparison would have priced Bony at around 34 million or 36% more than we received as base. This is not factoring in surcharges for Bony's experience, international credentials, defensive and play-making abilities.

Costa cost Chelsea £32m and scored 36 goals in 52 games for Atletico last season.

Let's do a comparison of Bony to the top end of the scale = Suarez. Suarez has scored 172 goals in 286 games = 172 / 286 = 60%. Barca paid 75 million pounds. On a linear scale between Lukaku and Suarez, Bony is worth 49 million.

This doesn't factor in the positive that Bony doesn't have the bite that Suarez does, which clearly depressed the Suarez valuation (damaged goods).

Diego Costa has scored 95 goals in 247 games = 95 / 247 = 38%. This just further supports my valuation of Bony on the Lukaku / Suarez scale. It says that Lukaku and Bony are undervalued.

Using one season as a comparison inflates valuations. Lifetime numbers are better indicators and tend to lower valuations. Chelsea paid a premium because they had nobody - an aging Eto, a non-delivering Torres, and they placed no confidence in Lukaku.
