http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/celtic-line-up-6m-swoop-2982604 Celtic line up £6m swoop for Sunderland striker Steven Fletcher By David McCarthy THE Bhoys are ready to push the boat out for the Scotland international and Record Sport understands contact has already been made between the clubs.
We paid way over the odds and he hasn't produced. Would anyone on here buy him for £6 million ? I wouldn't pay any more.
A leading paragraph added to old news story mate, lazy journalism: "But, five years later, boss Neil Lennon is determined to have more luck with Fletcher, who is back in the Scotland fold after a self-imposed exile when Craig Levein was boss. Fletcher, who has 13 caps, is regarded by current Scots coach Strachan as first-pick striker and Lennon has been looking for a top attacker since losing Gary Hooper to Norwich in summer. The Irishman has identified Fletcher as the man he wants to lead his forward line and serious attempts will now be made to land the player. Manager Lennon confirmed Celtic's interest in Fletcher today at his Friday press call and said he would be interested in the striker at the right price."
A swap deal for fletch and van djik nearly happened in the summer i' m lead to beleive, this might have legs
Not a bad one WMS, Fletch is 28 in the summer and has had his share of injuries. Move him on while he is worth something.
Sell sell sell but replace. To get rid of 2 of our 4 senior strikers this window would be a dream for me. Would rather it had been DG but I get the feeling that **** will walk when his contract expires at the end of next season. Connor's new contract means we'll have him for a few years but I still want shot of all 4.
Oh no... You'll be telling me that the rumours of us buying Ray Parlour are outdated too!?!? Anyone remember the back page headline "Ray of Light"?? Ha ha... Class
Wouldn't sell him to Hull. Could royally bite us on the arse. If read he'd fancy a move to Celtic. Use him as a makeweight for Van Djik
This we're desperate for a goal scorer and if as expected Defoe signs, that's great. But, why would we offload our only other experienced striker? unless Gus has someone else planned to come in first then this is just bullshit paper talk again. Load of old bollocks. Scenario. We sign Defoe, Josy goes to MLS, Fletchers goes to Celtic, Defoe gets injured/banned, back to square one with Wickham our only remaining striker.
We paid way way way over the odds for Fletcher, and recouping that shouldn't be how we value him (unfortunately). He has a great touch and a great left foot, but he does not threaten enough and is not physical enough. He also seems to get injured regularly. If this centre half is as good as believed, then I would be in favour of the deal, as Wes Brown needs replacing
