Right it's Burns night coming up. Which means I can buy Haggis in tesco.

Has anyone got a decent recipe as have a mate coming for dinner.

The only dinner I know how to make using haggis is a haggis stuffed chicken breast wrapped in Serrano ham. Served with roasted new potatoes, a haggis stuffed open mushroom topped with breadcrumbs and veg with a whisky cream sauce (which has fried shallots in)

    Any suggestions appreciated <ok>

Just ding it in the microwave. Serve it with mashed spuds and mashed buttered Swede/Turnip. You can try making a whisky sauce for the great chieftan O the pudden race or just buy one, Waitrose probably sells it.

Last time I did haggis, mash and neeps... The (ex) bird's dad was coming to stay about this time of year and apparently he's always disliked anything mashed, I was in charge of the shopping/menu, "aha" I thought, "let's do Burns Night".

Many years back I actually convinced a lad from Boston (Lincs) that my father had a Haggis lodge. He believed they had two long legs on one side and shorter legs on the other so they could run round hills, you chase them the other way and they roll of the hill into a waiting haggis net.

Nasty wee ****ers with sharp teeth like a puppy.

He took it all in but to be fair he was not the sharpest tool in the box.

    What about haggis Bon bons?

Make a ball of haggis, then wrap it in mashed potato, ie just a mased potato no milk or owt. Then roll in Panko breadcrumbs then deep fry the **** out of it??

In my mind it seems an awesome idea.

Sounds good but you'll no get much haggis in them, no unless you make them massive.

You'd need to cook the haggis first as well just incase your daft enough no to

Am thinking as an accompaniment to the main event.

If I could make potato string I'd wrap them in that then deep fry them.

Used to be a lovely wee restaurant just up the road from me in Crossford and their Haggis pakora was excellent. Served with a whisky and chili sauce.

Wrap the haggis round a soft boiled egg and then dip it in batter and deep fry.
