Rumours are that he will be leaving us and joining another Championship side this window...

    Any thoughts?

Relief is my initial feeling. Hopefully this will mean that Mick will have someone else lined up to come in and be 3rd choice striker (with more pace - chance of scoring a few) - Chris Wood rumours are starting to make more sense..

I wood have Chris Wood any day over Sammon!

Knowing Mick there is a coherent plan behind this so I will expect there to be a decent replacement being lined up.

Does make sense now we have Noel till the summer to come on and be the energetic pain in the arse up top for the final ten minutes......

Wouldn't be against using our current position to attract a young ish striking prospect.

He did his part in the early games of the season but Mick seems to favour Noel now so he may as well return to Derby if he's not playing.

All seems a bit fishy too me.(poor humour I know,I'll get my coat) chris wood is being quoted as available for 5m. Really. Are we going to spend that. Can't see it myself.

Eoin Doyle from the Spireites could be worth a punt....IMO.

Good at bustlng and keeping defenders busy but not a goalscorer, sadly. And I fear we need someone to take the presure off McG as something's not right with him at the moment.

I'm pretty certain we won't be gettng anyone else in now. I think that MM will see it as upsetting the apple cart (if we get new faces in). We just have to hope that neither McG nor Murphy get an injury, as that would only really leave Hunt (and Bajner). Hopefully Stewart can pick up, and get match fit, as he could be a useful player if on song.

Forgotten he was in the squad. Has he even made the bench yet this season.

Came on for Hunt at St Mary's. Hard to make any judgements from that, although by no means terrible.

Hardworking but lacks any kind of composure in front of goal. The match against Charlton (the 2-2 draw at their place) offered a microcosm of Sammon at his limited best. Tenacious and looks for the ball, he went on a lung-busting run down the wing, cut inside, and messed up.

Unfortunately, Noel Hunt, Balint Bajner, and Sammon fail to fill me with a lot of hope for supporting quality up front. If either Murphy or McGoldrick (or God forbid both of them at the same time) missed a game, we lack any credible replacement. If we're pushing for automatic promotion, we need that goalscoring edge in our support strikers. Hunt has the potential as his record isn't bad, putting aside the previous couple of years. I'd like to see us bring in a decent, pacy forward to bolster our strikeforce.
