I have a Parish Council meeting this evening. I'm recording the game and hoping to avoid any news until I've watched it back, so I won't be on here until late tonight!
Here's my preview: http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/content.php?551-PREVIEW-Ipswich-Town-vs-SAINTS-FA-CUP-3RD-ROUND-REPLAY
We are in for some stormy weather later on today so I just wanted to wish all the travelling Saints a safe trip up to Sunny Suffolk!
Yes, but there's something oddly exciting about driving a car at night, with the radio on, and a great football match commentary filling the cabin. Michael Owen said last night during a co-commentary, that the best match atmospheres are always at night, under floodlights. When you're in that car, driving at night with the radio on, you're tapping into that excitement, I think.
My brother was coming back from Ireland listening to ManU match on the coach radio. He felt sure United would score any minute. That is the trouble with radio...every time the opposition have the ball, you get an image of them standing in front of an open goal. Cannot listen to a match on the radio.
I find it difficult too, if I'm at home. But if I'm driving I like to listen in. It's one of the things I miss as a motorcyclist, and last year, when I went up to Wales, I stuck the Galaxy S2 in an upper pocket and got my headphones out for a while. Very nice, but there wasn't a football commentary on, otherwise I would have listened in. That's something I might bother to make easier to do on the bike.
Listening to a match whilst riding a motor bike sounds hazardous to me. I walk on air and feel invincible when we win...not something a biker should feel.
Glad OS has just announced Elia is ineligible. I supported a nonleague side once that went through 6-1, but was then disqualified for using a player who had already played for another team in the same competition. Still brings me out in a sweat...though would be amazed if Saints made that error.
Indeed, that's why I said for a while. A biker's danger antennae is much more connected than the average car driver's [and remember, I'm a car driver too]. When I said make it easier, it's because it's a bit of a kerfuffle to sort out, especially as the S2 has to be a phone, possibly a sat-nav, near the end of the journey, etc.., so doesn't need to be in a pocket, losing battery while it entertains me.
Mick McCarthy has just said that Saints look a good bunch of lads with no pretentious superstars...added that he liked that. Comments like that make me as proud as someone complimenting our play...guess that's the Mum in me
Sat at Geneva airport hoping that flight is not delayed.... Should just get back in time for the game. COYR
Yes, that is an all-time classic TSS. I urge anyone who hasn't seen it to look it up. And I agree about floodlit matches. I'll remember my first evening match at the dear old Dell till my dying day, the colours were so vibrant and the players seemed closer than ever. I hope tonight's is a good game but without the heart stopping last-ditch nature of the WHU-Everton match, and is settled in our favour by about the middle of the second half.
