Duffy scored for fun in the SPL playing for a ****e team, playing for Celtic in it Commons should be scoring a lot and that division makes him look better than he is. He's never played in our top flight, and even when he was at his prime, had 13 goals by New Year, and only had 6 months left on his deal at Derby, the only notable interest in him was from Celtic and Rangers.
Doesnt seem to mind tossing his body into dangerous situations. Good header of the ball as well but being 6ft 4 one would hope that was the case.
I know it seems strange but that type of thing is actually quite normal here. Lots of players are traded or sold and the new team is unwilling to pay their former salary so the previous team pays for some of that salary. I think it is done that way for a bunch of reasons, it skitts salary caps, if the player is traded again the first team doesn't have to continue paying, etc. you will also see staggered payments such as $X the first year, $X+20% the next, $X+30% the year after all to manipulate salary rules. Could be the reason they would be doing that is for one of the normal reasons teams over here do that type of thing. My hockey team here did that once. We signed a huge star to a huge long term contract. When he showed up he refused to play hard, or try at all. He didn't care if he was left out of the squad. After a year we gave him to another club for free and then paid 60% of his salary. It was a win for both teams. We got a piece of **** out of our locker room and freed up 40% of his salary to get someone who would put effort in and the new club got a star for free for the rest of his contract which was 5 years and only had to pay 40% of his salary.
Problem is, he did absolutely nothing down at Cardiff. He was their reserve striker in the championship when they were promoted. At least he has a similar celebration to Stuart Elliott, for that reason only, get him signed!
He's also about three years older now and squarely in his prime, and has scored about 25 goals for Blackburn in the last 12 months.
Just done a bit of research on the kid: http://www.soccerbase.com/players/player.sd?player_id=60631 32 goals in 52 games in his whole professional career is not a bad strike rate at all, if we get him for £4m I would be happy with that. It would give us a completely different option, even when Hernandez and Jelavic return from injury. He's like a battering ram in the air, he is just what I hoped Proschwitz would be, especially with Elmo/Robertson/Brady crossing it into him, he would get many goals for us.
I'd snap their hands off for him, he's got a bit of everything. Haven't seen much of Rudy Gestede, but you can't argue with his goal record, 24 goals in 43 games.
I dont mind Stephen Fletcher, apart from the fact he is made of sugar paper. He would be a step in the right direction compared to our backup of Sagbo.
Those stats can be misleading these days, given the number of fleeting sub appearances that are included. Gestede made 55 league appearances for Cardiff and only scored 7 times... but you have to factor in that only 10 of those 55 were starts. His 45 sub appearances probably only amount to around 9-10 full games.
