After all the debate and chatter, iiiiiiiitssssssssss a.........................NETWORK MANAGER! Luzón. Okay. He took Liege to top of their league, let's hope he does it with us. Plus maybe RD could lighten his load by signing some players. Anyone care to guess where he might sign them from?
Forgive me for being underwhelmed. I look forward to being proved wrong as a new dynamic exciting Charlton take the field on Saturday.
To be fair not many managers can boast a supporters riot on their CVs. Apparently in the interview this was tested via an assessment.
So much for Ms. K. stating that '...a long term coach would be appointed, we have to get this right etc'....... Unfortunately, as nice a lady as she probably is, she simply acts on instructions from her boss. Perhaps by 'long term' she was implying that anything longer than 6 months is exactly that.....? Perhaps l will go and support Millwall; Charlton have no future whatsoever. I feel sorry for the players, especially Tony Watt; l wonder what he is thinking right now? League One on the horizon.
Not positive at all, feel even worse than when Riga turned up. Gutted really, but I'd have to say, Would Peeters take over at Liege? No, Roland wouldn't put him there, clear we are seen as 2nd best to Liege although a businessman would surely see that we are more valuable to him. Not happy, wanted pretty much anyone but him, but lets give Luzon a chance, he better win Saturday and start playing some nice football
Okay, I've had a few hours to digest this maravellous news and formulate a few thoughts. essentially, RD has said Luzón is a great manager for us. So why did he sack him at Standard? Is football wildly superior there, or are we so rubbish we can be guided by Standard rejects? Actually, thta's been demonstrated by the number of signings we've had dumped on us who simply could'nt cut it here, Rather like falling off a bike and remounting it despite being very bruised, so this saturday, I'll be here on the PC following the match at Watford, and hoping the new guy turns things around. He did lead Standard to a runners up spot in the Belgian league Mainly the weariness and complete lack of the usual 'new manager' excitement come from what this says about our club. I doubt we looked at other options, invited applications or looked at what's best for Charlton, just grabbed the nearest Liege reject and shoved him in here. Je suis Charlie. All the way! But Je ne suis pas Roland Duchalet. Or his lapdog Katerin.
Kat has just shown what a totally pointless lying bitch she really is! There was no search what so ever was there!! It was always going to be this failure right from the moment they sacked the bouncer.
It wouldn't have been so bad if Roland had been more honest about it and installed Luzon right away. After all Bob had to go and we expected a network manager to replace him, just not sure which one. But Katrien's statement, whether made cynically, or in ignorance of Roland's decision, has raised everyone's hopes only for them to be dashed. Roland "hopes the supporters will get behind him". What a cynical statement, as if he cares. He has made his priorities clear, and the wishes of Charlton supporters is way down.
This is what has got under my skin more than the appointment of another network clone. Supporters have been lied to and treated like ****. Does Meire think we are all stupid and can be fobbed off. Meire resembles one of those Thunderbird puppets and you can see the strings. I have decided that I will not go to another game until the Belgians have gone. I have not enjoyed watching Charlton recently and this is the final straw. I will always be a Charlton fan and that will never change. I have supported the Club for fifty three years and we have been through really hard times. But I have never felt that I didn't want to see them before.
Exactly as above apart from having supported the club for 57 years. I feel completely numb and totally disinterested because of the silly games RD is playing. This isn't Charlton, this is a name and a ground but it's not a club. I'm at the stage I don't care whether Guy Luzon, Boris Johnson or Rita Ora is managing the team RD and his little pet have treated us with absolute disdain but still want our money. 150 mile round trip, a whole day taken up, petrol, programme, food, club shop, Well you've already had my ticket money for this season matey but if you're still there for the next campaign, forget it.
The most interesting comments on the whole episode came from a Belgian football journalist last night (I have re Tweeted them). He basically says that RD regards all of his Clubs as one entity, and all of his employees as part of that entity, to be moved around within them at his whim. Luzon was sacked at SL after 4,000 of their fans went on the rampage to get him removed, but he was always retained on the books by RD, ready for his next move. Competence or merit never came into it for a minute. Talk of an open recruitment process for a new CAFC manager was utter lies. Equally, when Luzon fails he will be moved on and the likes of Karel Fraeye, another RD Network stooge, will come in next. This week proves that, for the moment at least, the Club as we knew it has ceased to exist. It is part of the RD Franchise, a Euro-blob. RD wants to sell Liege due to fan hatred, and has had death threats from fans of Ujpest for the way he has run their Club into the ground. It looks like our fans will need to show similar bollox in the near future.
A fair few posters on CL are saying along the lines of "Get behind the new manager etc etc" but I'll be far more likely to renew my season ticket if they don't. Another line is "Let's see how results go and if we start winning all the moaners will shut up and come back on board" . When I started supporting Charlton we were in div 3, and the first game I went to was a 0-3 loss, but that didn't in any way stop me from becoming immediately hooked. It's not about results, although of course winning is nice, it's about identifying with your club, and when the fans get treated with contempt it's not easy.
Can't wait to see the response when the annual begging letter for season tickets is sent out in February. I laid out £700 last year. More chance of me voting Plaid Cymru this.
