But other teams just leave us to knock the ball about in our own half forcing us to play on the deck through their front men, midfield men and defence before even reaching anywhere dangerous. They sit back then break with a long ball into open space, Hull and Liverpool benefited very easily from letting us do this. Keep sticking to this and we will do nowt.
That's because nobody moves the ball about fast enough. Teams are organised quickly against our lethargic build ups.
So maybe we should leave wingers to attack and not cover attacking full backs and midfielders to provide better service for starving strikers. Sticking slavishly to one strategy will give other teams the advantage every time.
We did against Chelsea. We created quite a bit towards the end and could (maybe should) have won that!! But sadly against Hull and Liverpool (and most others tbh) we've created little. I doubt we will play 4-4-2. It rarely works nowadays anyhow as a team gets completely overrun in midfield. It may work occasionally but no longer rigorously. We'll lose more than we win.
I've no desire to ever see us play 442. Football has progressed. Teams will attack into space. a flat 442 leaves space between straight lines and diamonds leaves gaps in the middle and exposes the channels which is no good in a league off inside forwards. 442 is dead imo.
Loads of stuff flying about on twitter and facebook that we have agreed terms with Defoe... All a pile of poop in my opinion though..
