On saturday Watford meet Charlton Athletic with their new coach Guy Luzon. Will we have to face the new team coach problem again?
It was Brum first , then ?? now Charlton. Will it have been 3 this season then or just two? Seem to remember one other... Anyways, new coach syndrome hasn't really worked for us - might be why they stopped hiring/firing!
I may be naive, but would have thought that that would be true for any player, at any club, at any time. If New Guy hasn't spoken to or worked with the players, then would they know what he expects of them/how he wants them to play? If they can do that without him, then there's little point in him being there...
Yesterday was quite splendid but I still have this nagging doubt that with the players we have, we ought to be putting other teams to the sword more regularly. Seems that if we are given plenty of space in midfield, we run riot. Close us down and we run out of steam. Fair?
In theory, yes, BB, but the importance of figuring in the coaches future plans is heightened I think when they don't know what those plans are. A new coach comes in eg Pardew at Palace, and Guediora, previously out on loan, not particularly perhaps forming part of the plans, gets a game, an important away win, and e likes of us won't see him in a hurry again. Players out of favour have a potential/probable fresh start - perhaps the reason for need of new manager was because they had been overlooked? That sort of thing. Rushed example, btw, but that's the drift.
Absolutely spot on. If teams have done their homework and close us down we are screwed. Give us space and we can't fail to win!
