Can`t remember the last news item that has made me so angry as this one did last night. I have already given up sky and newspapers over other issues so the only protest I can make is the following link.

I have protested here for several issues over the last few months and most have had positive results, though not expecting much from Cameron or Murdoch on this one as they don`t give a f***.

    beddy,

thats half of the problem. people seem to have lost the ability to care passionately about these issues. For many people issues such as these are not important unless it affects them personally. people are not willing to inconvenience themselves on a point of moral principle. Politics affects us all. If we allow the likes of Murdoch to manipulate the press for his own agenda, then we will all be the worse for it, in the end. Lets storm the bastille!

It's reassuring to know that our government is about to hand Murdoch BSkyB on a plate. Personally I wouldn't give his evil empire the skin off a f:mad:rt.

What you say is very true, the trouble is there are so many issues of a similar nature or just as emotive. That requires just as much thought and anger. I am not even going to try and elaborate only to say it is the rotten age we currently live in. This kind of thing is not an isolated incident it is one of many.

Cameron getting Murdoch's papers to back him during the election, clearly was a case of "you scratch my back..."

Plus, I'm damn sure the Sun/NOTW have got more than enough juicy stories on Tory MP's in their back pocket to embarrass the Govt.

Not rumours, it's a police investigation and the News of the World has already paid out millions to celebs whose phones they admitted they hacked.

Worth noting these phone hacks took place over 5 years ago. Can you imagine what the media/private investigators are capable of now regarding hacking emails, computers and bugging people?

and don't think they're the only organisations that are capable of abusing private/personal info. I'm convinced the banks flog my details to other companies. It's too big a coincidence that when I have something happen financially (either negatively or positively) then the letters and emails come flying in. I had a larger than normal amount paid into my account once, not huge, but 3 or 4 times my usual monthly salary.... I was bombarded with investment emails, phone calls and letters. A couple of years back while on holiday, there was confusion (by the bank) over transfer of funds between my accounts... then I was bombarded with debt management companies and laon sharks. I know this is a little off topic, but still the Big Brother too much information story.

Don't think we'll ever stop it.

Do I stop Sky and tell my kids it's because someone did something wrong? Something they'll not understand for years. If I do that they'll be ringing the police evrytime I break the speed limit (which, officer if you're reading, I never do)

A non football topic. Put the news on (not Sky news though ) and you'll see what some horrible reporters/investigators have done.

The fact that this is only one example of the evils of the modern age is no excuse for doing nothing about it. Murdoch must not be left to rule the world by other people's apathy. I will repeat SaintMick's AVAAZ link so that so of you might just click on it and for once DO SOMETHING.

For those of you who want to stick purely to football-related gossip I give you this thought: the English Premier League, which has seen transfer fees and wages soar to astronomical levels which are percolating down through the Football League was founded for the benefit of Sky TV and is funded by them out of the profits that Murdoch makes.

I'm off to invest in shares in Data Protection Security Companies tailoring their products to the rich and famous and if they don't exist you'll see me in the Dragons Den shortly.

    here he goes again.....

PLEASE do enlighten us with your 'philosophical debate' and your wisdom godders.

just wanna say that you made a thread about 'the function of this site' and IMO its not to talk about the phone hacking scandal thats for sure.

Is it just me or is it that Godders has now turned on his own fans as he can no longer bait the pompey fans?

Either way I find it funny.
