FFS He's exactly what we need. A striker who can score and actually play football. Great signing for them. Wake up Congerton!
Sonogo has gone to palace anarl, not bothered about that one really but hey ho, people are making there moves and we are not even getting a mention on ssnhq
Well I'm glad Sonogo is out of the equation. The difference in class is like the Atlantic. I read we're interested in Osvaldo which I'm not happy about. One good stint at Roma and nowt but trouble since.
I'm not too sure. Inter are about to send him back to Southampton and I can't see Koeman wanting him. After Gus said certain types of players are available for loan leads me to believe we could go with a troublemaker.
Does anyone know that we weren't enquiring about him? Nothing has been publicised so who knows? I'd have loved him here but we're not exactly an attractive proposition ATM. I'm also not in a position to state whether Congerton should be slated or not - just because he didn't sign. We need pace - Dzeko maybe quicker than what we have but he isn;t "lightning" pace (I actually don't think he's quicker than Wickhan - better but no quicker!)
I agree with the pace thing, but actually having a striker who can hold the ball up for the players to get round would be a difference, part of the problem is that our strikers lose it too quickly.
I want the pace from the inside forwards though. Knowing the system won't change don't see the point of a fast striker. If we're going to congest the box every time we hit the final 3rd then I wan't a strong footballing forward who can pass, hold up the ball, make himself space and make the most of his chances. Dzeko would fit that profile perfectly. Defoe is a daft one. Someone who runs the channels? No good when the channels are occupied by our inside forwards. He won't bring anything as Gus won't deviate.
If we got Dzeko it wouldn't make any difference. Our approach play is predictable and plodding and we need to change that before we worry about getting strikers.
I don't know if you noticed at the weekend Bri, the Liverpool forwards were running diagonally across our centre backs so O'Shea and Brown had no way of getting ahead of them; Gerrard, Coutinho and Henderson were picking their runs out by just hitting the space ahead of them. Whereas we were hitting straight balls to Wickham, and the Liverpool centre backs were just stepping in front of him and taking the ball or were bossing him into sterile areas because he couldn't turn on them. At times in the first half it looked like men against boys
Missed it mate. Sounds like Brendon did us on tactics. Noticed they only managed 4 shots on target. Considering we had ten men for 40 minutes sounds like in most part they hadn't brought their shooting boots. We've must have been fortunate not to concede more.
According to the BBC, they had 26 shots with 5 on target, so they were creating chances but let down by poor finishing
Not defensively. This season JoS and Wes have been far too comfortable for slow old men. The system works defensively no doubt. But we don't have the attacking players to make it work offensively. Gus needs to adapt it until he has those players, nee good him complaining and doing nowt.
