‘Arf decent card across the county line at Newbury tomorrow and providing old girl Mother Nature doesn’t intervene I’ll nominate one to the dear old regular readers.

Mr Henderson’s MIGHT BITE, a half-brother to dual Grade 1 wining hurdler Beat That, makes his debut in the ‘lucky last’ (4.00). This one has obviously had a few issues as he’s making a belated bow, at the age of 6, but given his breeding and the fact that connections have preserved with him then he is of huge interest tomorrow. Mr Henderson likes to introduce his better bumper horses at Newbury and has a comparatively high strike rate in these races at this venue (41% last term and 38% so far this season). There really is no-one better, than the forum’s favourite trainer, in these sort of races.

I would advise members to have a nibble on Might Bite tomorrow.

    Good luck, pilgrims.

Hope you're not biting off more than you can chew with that tip Sir Barney. Might your selection have to come up Newbury's home straight into the teeth of a gale though? Hope one of the other runners doesn't swoop late to "dent-ure" hopes.

Oddy, I still think Might Bite will be able to gnaw out a victory tomorrow. Regular readers should have a bet they can get their teeth into.

The only thing that is not right re Might Bite tomorrow is that he isn’t ridden by the forum’s favourite Dentist (and Corinthian) the younger Mr Waley-Cohen. Now wouldn’t that have been apt!

The return of the "****er bet"*

    Newbury 14.50

2 points win Smiles For Miles 5/1
    2 points win Bob Tucker,7/2

    4 points staked
    Potential return = 9 or 12

    * ****er bet is a trademark bet (definition concocted by stick)

I see Party Royal has changed stables - again. Was with Mark Johnston, then Ruth Carr, now with J Butler. Considering his last win was off 84 and now he's racing at 75, the booking of Adam Kirby looks interesting. Nice pedigree

    Should be winning a Class 5 - shouldn't he?

Byron Blue 5:40 Kempton , 12/1 looks worth an EW. Though some money for it would have increased confidence .

    2:50 Newbury - BUACHAILL ALAINN 16/1 ew

Finished last of 8 over hurdles last time returning from a year off. Has form on soft and appears on a fair mark based on past hurdle exploits. Bowen yard been in fair form recently and after the recent pipe-opener is worthy of an eway poke back over fences.

3rd day running that we have lost a NH card at the hands of Mother Nature. When will they start fixturing ‘bumpers for jumpers’ cards. Come on, chop chop! You know it makes sense! The forecast for the South of this EU member state looks horrific for 18 hours from 15.00 today. If what is forecast materialises more cards will be lost as well. Ascot on Saturday, to my eye, must rate extremely doubtful.

The old ante-post boy in ‘The Weekender’ tackles the World Hurdle today and identifies not 1 not 2 but 3 pieces of value. 2 pts e/w At Fishers Cross (25/1), 1 pt win Zarkander (10’s) and 1 pt win Diakali (25/1). All NRNB. What do we think?!?

Thanks SBC, what was their reasoning behind At Fishers Cross? I have a soft spot for the horse after his novice year but frankly he has been awful since apart from a good run in last years WH. His jumping is terrible and looks likely to meet a fence next year?

He says that At Fishers position in the market is at odds with his ability. Also that this time last season his form was similar to what he has shown so far in 2014/15 but he still went on to be 2nd in a Cleeve and 3rd in a World Hurdle. If connections find the key to him says he has the potential to run a massive race. Advises to take NRNB on the horse as he may not get there (stayed in Ireland after his last run) but if he does he will go there with a much better chance than a 25/1 shot.

Will he go Chasing next term??? He’s not a young horse and would be competing at the end of season Festival’s as a 9YO novice.
