That's why I said maybe a loan if Toby is out for a few weeks. No point bringing in some one that will just stop youth like McCarthy getting his chance even if it is sitting on the bench. McCarthy plays cb mostly for the youth having started of as a rb. He plays better at cb, so in the summer I would like us to get another rb (maybe two if Clyne goes).

We are still very much looking at Byram.

I'd take a loan too, but if the options are to buy or stand pat, I'd go for the former. McCarthy will get his chance regardless, but it doesn't appear as if we're expecting it to be this season; he hasn't gotten a look in the cups, and when a spot has opened up at RB we've gone with two central defenders and an attacking mid as cover.

Plus, the deeper we get into this, the more likely it is that we'll be playing European football of some variety next year; there'll be no shortage of minutes to go around if so.

I'd still like Saints to make a cheeky offer to Schar.

He's out injured isn't he? Still, yeah; always looks fantastic whenever Basel is tipping someone over.

Not sure we need anybody. We looked calm and organized today and we had good support on the bench. Maybe cover for Pelle, but Jay will do that on his return. Today we looked like a CL team playing a late Nov game in Moscow.

Jay isn't a out and out forward. He plays better on the wings with more space to run. We also don't know when he will be back.

This striker we are enquiring about at the moment....do you think after yesterday's result and sitting pretty in 3rd will enhance our chances of getting our mystery man.

Read a report yesterday where Koeman said pretty much the same. Said he was happy with what we have now.

I'm happy with what we have now too HOWEVER I htink it's clear that an injury to Fonte, Clyne or Pelle would leave us a little short in what is now a very very important run in. If the right players are available (especially on loan) then I think RK will go for it. Martins-Indi and another goalscorer I think would give us the perfect squad size/depth/quality balance.

We'll only lose Alderweireld for Newcastle as he should be back for Swansea with the international break. Yoshida will be back around the same time so not too worried if we don't bring in a CB.

Pardew says he asked Liverpool about Rickie (not sure if he meant for Newcastle or Crystal Palace). He was told no as Rickie was happy there and wanted to compete for his place. Not surprised...sure Rickie wants this to be his last move. Might be different if he was mid-twenties and wanted to play.

2 Prem teams + Lazio want Ravel Morrison. I wonder who the other Prem team is? (QPR obviously 1)

Rickie has lived the dream more than most; amazing football story. I reckon he is done now though going to his home town club completed the dream but finished his career
