Just caught up with Morning View discussing this. As you'd expect, the answer was no, but not as emphatically as you might expect. The view was that we were too many points behind 2 teams, so needed them to drop points at the same time as we had a fantastic run. One pundit said possibly if we were 7 points behind one team in second. How many of us would expect to be seriously discussed as title winners?

 

I feel entirely differently....shirt removal after scoring a goal should be compulsory, though it may result in hysterical cries of 'Pass it to Fonte.' I feel a nude calendar is long overdue (with a few strategic shin pads....we don't want male fans to feel too intimidated).

Quite right, although in terms of player attitude, I've never had so much confidence in a Saints manager to keep things in check. I believe our fortunes will be decided by ability and hard work. I've only really felt that so strongly since our slide down the table was well and truly reversed.

Really? A referee must be unbiased because he gives more decisions to the away team? Two seconds of thought says that isn't so.

Home team commits a hundred fouls and the ref gives two of them.

Away team commits one foul, ref gives it.

Away team has had more decisions, therefore ref is not favouring the home team.

Referee's aren't biased. To suggest they are is a complete disgrace.

 

What, not even unconsciously? There's research showing that if you show a ref a game with crowd noise turned on he makes different decisions from when it's turned off. There's also research that shows that refs award more fouls against teams wearing black than white. All bias, all unconscious. If you consider yourself knowledgeable about refereeing but don't know about this, you may want to do some research.

And you haven't answered the point, which is that the metric of "gave more decisions to us" is rather flawed.

Please explain why Dowd didn't even speak to RVP after he threw the ball at his stomach, let alone give him a yellow card.

 

No idea, but it wasn't bias. Maybe he was intimidated.

And the challenge on Davis from Rooney.......wasn't even given as a foul let alone a card.
