Part of me wonders if Gus is complaining of squad limitations now to put pressure on Short to cough up some ££
I've had my gripes with Gus since he came in but have been happy we got a high profile manager who seems to have the potential to do well for himself and any club he's at. I think this is the first since he came, however, that I don't think he's the future of Sunderland. Don't get me wrong, I'm not calling for him to be sacked. I just don't see him lasting long term. I won't be calling for his head, my support will remain the same but I'm expecting him to be gone within 18 months and won't be sad when it happens. He slates his squad every chance he gets which is a disgrace and comes straight out of the David Brent book of management. His system is flawed, boring and ineffective and it simply won't work with our current squad. I want Gus to do well while he's with us, I want him to keep us up and move us up but I don't like the man. I don't like him as a bloke or as a football manager, I think he's a bit of a **** to be perfectly honest. If he wants to run his mouth as often as he does he needs to show some ability alongside it.
Maybe but I'm getting sick and tired of him complaining of limitations when he has no plan B himself.
TBH, this is beginning to look as though we'll be in a fight with Newcastle for a manager in the summer. Poyet is calling Short out and he won't appreciate that.
He's critical of the owner, the board, the DoF, the fans and the players he's managing. He's faultless though. Ok he's not banning tomato sauce for the good of the players health and fitness like many clubs do... but in my books his actions are as mad as Di Canio's.
The problem is that he's probably as right as Di Canio was. Almost all of the stories about Di Canio came from the same people who are now shuffling around the pitch in our shirt. We have some shocking players at the club, like Graham etc, and the general attitude stinks. The Liverpool game was as low as I've ever felt and I've lived through many bad points in our club's fortunes. I can accept everything but a lack of the passion & effort that I put in myself. Players like Brown, O'Shea, Johnson, etc sometimes come off the pitch and hang their kit back on the peg for the following week.
Yep, But Di Canio didn't stick with plan A did he? He lost the dressing room while implementing plan B so we'll never know if it would have worked but PDC came out and said that Squad weren't capable of playing how he wanted to and changed it.
IMO, he lost the dressing room by asking the players to do what Sean Dyche does every week ... ... give absolutely everything they have.
I think he lost it because he expected them to be more Mo Farah and less Callum Best. He wanted them to professional athletes with strict diets and and routines. The players wanted more followers on twitter and 20k bottles of Champers in front of tabloid photographers.
And there's the problem in a nutshell, right there. There's glamour playing for title winners like Chelsea & Man City so the players can be controlled to an extent. There's absolutely no glamour playing for Sunderland so the players will find it elsewhere. In the meantime they'll continue to take the wages and know, full well, that there's nothing Poyet can threaten them with. Would O'Shea or Brown really care if they're picking up their wages for sitting on the bench.
Good long term signing who's had to come in too quickly. I think he's part of the ultimate plan to have 2 DM's allowing the full backs to take the play upfield quickly. Sadly the key players, like PVA & Cattermole, have been lost at vital times.
Catts is due to return on sat, groin injury http://www.physioroom.com/news/english_premier_league/epl_injury_table.php Btw
He's losing my support and fast Gus. I don't like him as a man, I think he's a sniveling, finger pointing little prick, but I do/did/partially rate him as a manager. Comments like this alienate a squad already suffering confidence wise and could send us into a tailspin. He should be banned from all media, he's a ****ing idiot. I make clear I don't want him sacked (yet) but I also think, were I Mr Ellis Short, i'd be thinking 'go **** yourself, mate'. Let's not forget he nearly took us down, people mention the 'miracle' when we won a few. What about the '****ing disaster' of a run of Bruce like proportions that meant we needed the miracle? He came in with SEVEN games gone in the season, not 7 to save us. He's a ****ing knobhead (I repeat, as a man). We've missed Pulis twice, you know what, we'd not be so ****ing flaccid with him in charge.
As Bob said, and the times ( fans ) they are a changing, Pdc was right all along pile of ****e the lot of them should of backed him instead of crawling to the ****ers
I think we are overdosing on tactics, formations and personalities. Where is the fighting spirit and determination?
