Hernandez and Jelavic have looked very good together in patches, but Hernandez on his own has been terrible, if Jelavic is out for an extended period, we're screwed.
I work with 2 Sheffield Wednesday fans and they said he couldn't hit a barn door for them when on loan last season. Scoring goals for fun in league 1 in a good team (MK Dons) is different to scoring goals in the Championship, look at Aaron McLean as an example.
Juventus went Balotelli on loan, with a £14m option to buy at the end of the season. I'm surprised they've got a chance of getting most of their money back. Edit: Scrub that, Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri has just ruled out a move for him.
Would it be feasible to buy Tony Andreu from Hamilton Accies. He's scored 12 in 18 league matches as an attacking midfielder. If we could also get Lambert from Liverpool on loan or one of Arsenal forwards then surely that would give us some attacking guile whilst we are without Jela and Hernandez.
Hes probably going to end up at Norwich if he goes anywhere. Aron Gunnarsson from Cardiff would be my choice. Or Gray at Birmingham.
Given our problems upfront, Brucey should also be looking at 28 day loans which may open up some options that otherwise would not exist for a longer period?
We've only got two loan spots, we're not going to waste one on a 28 day loan that couldn't then be extended.
Am I correct in saying the two loan spots only applies to loaning from uk clubs? So in theory could get additional bodies from abroad?
We can have additional international loans, but we still won't get one for 28 days, I expect anyone we bring in to come for the rest of the season. I also suspect we'll look closer to home this window, I doubt we'll be much in the mood to take a punt on a player from another league.
Yeah I wasn't considering the 28-day loan anyway. It just wouldn't surprise me we go for a number of loans, say 1 domestic and 1-2 foreign if we don't have much money to spend in terms of permanent deals.
Just seen that Leicester have set an asking price of £5m for Chris Wood. That's mental, for a player that's managed one goal in four appearances this season it's far too much. They've also said Jamie Vardy is not for sale. I'd have thought they were the two strikers they'd be looking to ship out, but apparently not.
On the basis that either or both Jela or Abel would be fit by the end of the window, if we could get proven quality in that otherwise would not be available then why not. Not ideal I accept, but then the injury list has caused a bit of a crisis.
Well if you can get a player for half a season, why would we only get them for 28 days? What if one of them comes back and gets injured again? We need to be covered until the end of the season, the whole reason we are in this situation is because we don't have any cover in depth.
