Their FBs are second to none, including Everton. Their two deep mids are second only to Chelsea's.

Tadic and Mane (hurt) are exciting attacking mids. This Dutch kid today who played on the left looks really good.

Pelle has been an excellent lone striker. Size, skill and desire. The GK is a huge mobile piece of talent.

    They are ****ing good.

Ha! This thread is really making me chuckle. Many moons ago, I went to a place called The Dell to watch Southampton play Northampton Town in the Third Division (south). I don't remember the exact year, but it had to be before 1958 because the two Third Divisions ended then in favour of Divs. 3 and 4. It's the only time I've been there, but I never forgot them. Southampton was the grottiest little club in the grottiest little ground with the grottiest programme (a single A4 sheet folded into three) I have ever seen in English football. I'd been to Barrow, Workington Town, Gateshead, etc., and all of them put more effort into 'being someone' than Southampton did. I was singularly impressed by them - they were THAT bad!

And look at them now! Southampton have been one of the great romances of English football in my lifetime. And I would honestly-to-god love them to crack top four. :emoticon-0100-smile

Very weird game, we had an outlet in Valencia who was causing them all sorts of problems (the only player who was causing them problems) and every ball seemed to go to Mata or Di Maria.

Width was always going to be the key to this game and we went through the middle time after time. It was like Van Gaal didn't know what to do with a fully fit squad, his subs were awful, especially bringing on that kid Blackett, we threw the game right there and then.

Fair play to Southampton, their defence was well organised and they deserved not to concede. They escaped with 3 points when a draw was a fair result, but we did the same to them at St Mary's so I've no complaints.

Terry lad what's the crack with Falcao? Saw he wasn't even in the squad yesterday which is worrying since I've got him in two of my fantasy football teams at work <yikes>! Heard rumours he wants away but not sure if that's just media bs - you heard owt your end? From what Van Gaal says sounds like he didn't have a knock or anything, just dropped (in favour of that young lad) - has he really been that poor this season? I haven't caught much of your games tbh.

I think it's us that doesn't want Falcao rather than the other way round to be honest. He's playing as if he's a player who's just got over a long term injury, he's not fully committing himself, so I don't know what to make of it to be honest. I would love him to do well and earn a full time contract here though, he's shown flashes of brilliance in a few of his appearances.

I think RVP is out for a couple of weeks with his ankle so here comes Falcao's first real opportunity, if Wilson comes out of this two weeks on top, then Falcao's a gonner in my opinion.

One thing is for certain, ain't no team gonna pay £40m+ for him, if he joins us, I can see the fee being £24m to add to the £6m loan fee and I think that's very generous.

Is this the same same small team that scored 8 goals in a game?

    Seems so long ago.

This team has all the discipline/system elements that LVG was supposed to deploy at United. Everyone is talking about the wrong Dutch gaffer I think.

One (LVG) is a big story at a big club, which brings lots of readership and interest, the other is the really special story of a generational success at a smaller club.

Relic's earlier comments were great to read.

So envious of them. SO ENVIOUS <wah> <wah>

They sell their best players, lose their manager and become better. It's not fair :(
