Can't see it myself. I think he burnt that bridge when his successor was brought in. I think he would feel very undermined anyway from his own performance as 1st team manager. Shame really.
Have a feeling Pompey will really click sometime in March and go on a fantastic run only to end up 2 or 3 points outside a play-off place!!
Bad result guys but at least you can rub the Saints result in the face of all those Manchester United supporters at your work place tomorrow!!!
What little attention I've paid to the Premier League has astonished me. Southampton have been perfroming far beyond any expectations anyone had for them, West Ham, likewise, have been over-performing, while Liverpool, Arsenal and Man Utd have been crap by their usual standrds. I mean, I dont begrudge Southampton the success while they have it but it's kind of been an odd season. Mind you I think we all predicted that Utd would have a hard time of it when Sir Alex walked into retirement. He'd been there a long time and the club was geared towards him and his style of management - not to forget the fact that he's the greatest manager of modern times and arguably the greatest ever - so it was going to be difficult after his time in charge inevitably came to an end no matter what, but it's just been astounding how inconsistant they've been and how fragile they've looked under his successors.
