It's lonely on the League 2 forum...... Unless you're a Gills fan that is!

I've just been checking out the other boards on here for other league 2 clubs and I have to say it's shocking........

Many teams have barely any activity, some have very little activity. By league 2 standards we, the Gills Fans, stand head and shoulders above the rest. So congratulations to us all. Especially to posters like BRB, HOADIE_BOI, who are the spine of the board, there are also many others who are becoming highly active users. I always thought we had a good board on 606 but we seemed to have stepped it up by a few levels in our new home, the lack of WUMS is a massive improvement for 1 thing.

Top 5 number of threads of the league 2 boards are....... (at time of writing)

    5. Oxford with 45 threads

    4. Bristol Rovers with 65 threads

At 3. Plymouth with 128 threads

In at 2 is Shrewsbury with 189 threads

And at number 1 is the GILLS with 384, yes Three Hundred and Eighty Four (plus this one is 385).

What I find most surprising is that there are 13 teams with less than 10 threads. A further 6 teams with less 25. Why???? I do not know. So during the season looks like we'll have to be content with our own company.

Great effort everyone. Keep it up. :emoticon-0150-hands

Theres bound to be more fans on here. The old 606 board was as pathetic as the O/S board is. Mainly used by kids or people of very low intellect, especially on the O/S board where it is virtually impossible to have a thread that doesn't wander completely away from the subject matter ,but within a short while posters are hurling abuse at each other. Alright, that didn't happen on the old 606 ,but really there were so few users it wasn't worth looking at anyway.

This is the current member listings of those clubs, it will not be 100% precise for various reasons:

    Gillingham - 122 members
    Bristol Rovers - 58 members
    Plymouth - 52 members
    Shrewsbury - 38 members
    Oxford - 35 members

We even have a bigger membership than Championship side Millwall at 107 members, although Charlton have a bigger membership at 166 members.

Looks like we have some way to go to beat the likes of Newcastle with a membership of 1,083 !

I tried to give this site a mention on the O/S a couple of day's ago and got promptly removed, which I feel is a shame as we all support the same club! I wasn't trying to spam the site, I didn't even post a link, I was just attempting to state, that we may belong to many message board sites and that this one had a large following of Gills fans.

Agree i am suprised by the lack of activity on the league 2 board but expect it will pick up as the new season draws closer. It seems all amicable on here but wasnt always that way on 606. We all have differing opinions which is good but it got quite childish at times on 606!!

Although the beeb 606 site left many things to be desired, which thankfully have mostly been resolved with this site, it was a focal point for opnion, and many people (myself included) only posted on that board. The demise of 606 meant that a load of new boards sprang up and fragmented the posters. Most of the Gills 606 members moved here, but a few weeks ago I wanted to post a message on a WBA board and found that new606 was far more popular with their posters.

Eventually it'll all settle down, but with certain clubs on certain sites, which is a bit of a shame as it means that the level of genuine friendly inter-club banter will inevitably be reduced.

I think the good thing is as long as we know where they've gone, we can still drop in for a chat.
For example I used to share a bit of banter with the Posh fans but they all moved to a different site, where there are large numbers of Luton fans as well.
I sometimes drop in for a chat, more recently over the Whelpdale/Lee rumours, it just means more multi siting, until it settles down.

I'm sure as soon as we play another team, which might have many fans on another site, they will soon come and find us, or visa versa.

As you say eventually it will settle down.

That's the problem - it's not always easy to find which is the popular site for a particular club.

Possibilities for a new website with automatic updates of number of threads / posts for the various clubs at the various boards so that visitors can tell which is most popular?? Someone can have that idea for free.
