Agree. Both were penalties though so you can't really have any complaints for the penalty that was awarded. The Palace player touched the ball and Stambouli caught him.
Even if you believed this, which you clearly don't, this doesn't make any sense. At least put some effort in.
Another game where the ref is the main player. What I liked about Palace is they kept trying to create chances and it paid off. They weren't always good chances and they were clearly the lesser of the two teams, but if you keep buying a ticket, you just might end up winning the raffle. And they did.
Despite being clearly wrong, if both were penalties and one wasn't awarded, then why wouldn't we be able to complain?
What's with the pleb invasion of our board? Many have crawled out of their holes all of a sudden. Were the schools back this week? Anyway, well that was a disappointing result and performance to say the least. First twenty mins or so aside, we were 2nd best at everything. Palace were really up for it, a typical performance for a new manager. Ref (again) didn't help but that was only partly to blame, our players were outdone for most of the game and the result was pretty much deserving for Palace. Puncheon caused too many problems and Guediora (SP?) helped really change the game when he came on. Walker and Eriksen's defending on Zaha was shocking, there's no way he should have got through the two of them like that. Mason and Bentaleb were really missed in that midfield. Fazio still worries me, he done okay for the most part but he just seems to have at least one mistake in him per match and was lucky the ref didn't blow when Gayle was clear of him and went down. A CB is definitely my number one priority for this window, with a new striker a close second. Speaking of strikers, did Soldado touch the ball more than once after he came on? Also weren't too impressed with the subs Poch made, felt Lennon was really needed and should have been the one to replace Townsend. Bad day at the office. We've got three home games on the bounce now, with Burnley in the FA, Sunderland in the League and Sheffield in the Capital One Cup, lets hope we can pick up some form and results to get a good rhythm going again.
funny, I use the same insult as I quoted back and only my post gets removed, just about sums you lot up doesn't it.
Now that's the Spurs we love so much.Up one match and down the next. What will happen in the next match.Be sure to see it at a theatre near you! Bring your own smelling salts! COYS!
I don't blame the ref. Pardew outfoxed Pochettino. Same tactic as Newcastle when they beat us. Tire us out. Bring on quick fresh players, who carry major goal threats, towards the end. Nick the game. As soon as Zaha came on, Lennon should have come on to tighten that side and allow counter pace. Hopefully, Pochettino will use the window to strengthen the squad this window, instead of claiming all is well with the squad. We are back to being wasteful with chances, Eriksen should have scored. The team are tired. We really do need more lethal alternative options that can come on and confidently affect games. Kane can't, and shouldn't have to do it all by himself. One goal is never enough.
Can somebody explain why M.P. persists with Rose? He's a walking car crash waiting to happen. You just know that sooner or later ( more likely sooner!) he will fall asleep, or just do something harebrained. Hopefully, the pond life that seemed to infest the board yesterday will be sorted out??.....
Overall it was a frustrating and annoying evening's viewing. Mostly because of an inept referee who can't make consistent decisions and Niall Quinn's blatant biased commentary that I wanted to vomit. It should have been a draw in all fairness and it was the result I was expecting, taking into account that Palace would be buzzing with it being Pardew's first game and a London derby. But as far as the game goes, how Kane's clear penalty was not given is beyond me. The lad was again energetic and strong but he can't carry the team alone. For all of Eriksen's flair and movement, that guy needs to grow a pair. I've never seen him go in for a tackle or put his body in the way to try to keep possession or stop the opposition. Headers... has he ever gone up for one and won one yet? I think he's too concerned with messing up his hair! And what happens during the game? He lamely loses the ball and they score. Not good enough at this level... I agree about the sentiment surrounding Rose. When he bombs forward I nearly have a heart attack as I'm just waiting for him to lose possession, leaving a gaping hole for the opposition to attack. It happens time and again. We've looked so much better with Davies in their recently so get him back on the team sheet FFS Poch! I think overall what was clear to me is how much we missed Mason. Stambouli is a combative midfielder which we need at times but he needs to wise up. Some of his decision making is going to get us into trouble and of course, one did with the questionable penalty decision. I like his attitude and he could become a great player for us in time. Dembélé still really frustrates me. For all his great footwork and possession play, he still doesn't influence the game nearly enough for my liking. All these twists, turns, step-overs and pirouettes are ineffectual and he's beginning to look like another Scott Parker who spins a lot and faffs around on the ball but eventually, just passes it sideways without hurting the opposition at all. Much prefer the young lad Bentaleb in there to be honest. Couldn't understand the decision to bring on Soldado. When you really need a goal, his form right now is not the answer and we've all collectively given up on him as we can clearly see his confidence is shot but more importantly, his style doesn't fit ours. Square pegs and all that. Capoue is the other sub that came on and again, if you want a giant softie on the pitch who offers pretty much zero, he's your answer. For a guy of his size, I can't believe how lame he comes across. He's got no fight or aggression and for a supposed central midfielder, crap distribution too. I couldn't fathom the two subs at all when Lennon was sat on the bench itching to get at the tiring full backs and give Soldado and Kane stuff to feed off. So like always, opportunity missed. Some dodgy decisions and after such as great festive period, it seems we still have much to learn.
The mods aren't online 24 hours a day and unlike you SoS actually contributed something other than bad attempts at wumming. Have you wondered why you've been trolling all day and haven't been bad yet? You're just not very good at it @Spurs or Sex? that was very naughty to use that word, please don't stoop to their level. Tut, tut.
Morning people. How was the game ?? A classic new manager honeymoon game for Pardew + <standard> Spurs ??
