Sunderland have gradually improved, away game not easy there

Villa are weird they are easier to play at villa park.. Who knows

West ham have everything we are weak at defending. That one is at anfield and allardyce might slip into negative thinking but if he goes for us they can win

Finally the derby, form is supposedly meaningless in Derbys. Who knows. They are that bad it's untrue but that can't continue so ......


If we get 7 out of 12 points which is our level then we will have done well especially adding in cup semis

to Get 4th 8/12 points every block is about right (actually 7.5) everyone should be able to see from the above table that LFC had a total disaster in block 3 where they screwed the pooch. Right now LFC are 11 points behind that target run and that means they would need to win the next 12 games in a row to get back towards that.

If you are generous and say ok lets get to 7/12 then that would be say 67 points. we are 7 points of that so we'd need to win the next 8 game sin a row to get on that kind of form.

Now this is why i am pointing at block 6 and saysing we are not getting next, nigh nor near 4th. We might take 7 out of 12 doing well with 3 away games coming.

Right now we are looking at about 55 points total correct?

You will note that on Rodgers' own system LFc have not hit one single block target. however the really bad form gets hidden

 

What you are describing is the classical performance of a mid table team. Getting less than half the points on offer.

It will a truly exceptional performance in the second half of the season to get to 70 points. Yep, 10 out of 15 won't do it. More like 12 out of 15. So very few draws and even fewer defeats.

Ar 20 games gone we had 39 points. thats 10 points more than this season. it was easily on to continue on the same form (and we did up to feb) and get to 4th. Our form for 2 months was so good it propelled us to the title challenge.

The EXCUSE that we over achieved thats year is easy to make but the fact is for me we have been piss poor in form and dropped off the required standard this year for 4th and have only recently finally shown it at all.

Look at our blocks last year WITH suarez. (ignore block one in other words) 7,7,9,6... yeah thats right... just good enough for 4th with SAS.... we hit a patch of amazing form where we could do no wrong... and I for one enjoyed it then.



My point is this year block 3 absolutely killed us, 1 point out of 12. when you look back in may this is where we lost any chance of 4th. We need to repeat last season's run to catch up and thats without suarez.

Our form isn't quite midtable RIGHT NOW, nor is it quite top 4. BUT we have two blocks played where we took 7 and then 8 points. If we keep that up we will be up around 57/58 points and again.. to aim to get to 70 but ending up chucking 6 to 8 points in the bin in that block 3 means we are stuffed. 57+6 = 63, 58+8 = 66.... all you need is picking up a couple more points from there and when 4th is on you try hard don't you.


No for me we are talking about something that's prob beyond this team totally and therefore for me Rodgers should be putting EVERYTHING in the cups.

The most worrying part of that chart for me is the bottom right corner. Sterlings our star player but his stats just aren't good enough for that role IMO. Just shows what we really lack, that stand out player that will drag us forward.

 

yeah but gerrard is our star performer but he's not on the chart... should fix that.

anyway.

win next 3 and we get back towards 4th. we'd get to 66 points type of target.

just focus on the next game... villa are such an imponderable. I never know what side will turn up and it is at thier ground. If they pay us with aggression and a high press they should kill us... but will they? they are not very good are they....

our form in last 6 league is now

that means of the last 4 we took 10 and last 5 we took 11 out of 15.... suggesting that is an "out of block sequence" showing of top 4 form.... and yet nobody thinks we are relaly playing well enough,,, i nthe 6 we played utd and arsenal... then 3 relegation candidates and one mid tbale side.

the next 3 also go around the league cup semis.

Have you been keeping track of those blocks...? If so, are you able to post them...? I don't mean the detailed table you did before, just a straight forward group vs points

 

The question is will Rodgers prioritise the league when the cups come around- Europa, FA , coc? Unless he does, we'll find it almost impossible to compete against the likes Arsenal, Saints, The mancs.

 

sur i can... i can do so for block of 4 and for block of 5... i have that on the full table

In the blocks of four, that third section is proving to be the costly one so far. Get around 6-8 points there and we're in third. Some locks are slightly behind but not too damaging and have been made up in others.

In complete contrast though, the blocks of five suggest we've been consistently not good enough throughout the season. There is no stand out poor or excellent sections at all.

I find it quite interesting how the two approaches can give such different outlooks.

 

Yes I commented on that

My blocks show we are just one point over the 4 games shy of 4th but that period killed us

Incidentally when I did this in 09 the exact same came out it was not a draw 4-4 that did it but a block drawing 1-1 with Wigan and losing 0-2 to boro and taking 4 from block that did for us

Block 3 shows where we ruined our year more or less but yes the 5 block shows the lack of top 4 quality all tear
