Because it's an average league this season. No one running away with it at the top and points being dropped aplenty by everyone. Which makes it even worse how poorly we are doing. We are definately under-performing.
Very poor. It looked from the start that is was the 'bad' Watford showing up - and that proved to be the case. More worrying is that was probably our strongest team. And with Guédioura on the field at Palace today I doubt he's coming back. You can bring in all the talent in the world but until we start to play as a team the best we can hope for is the play-offs - and even that might be a stretch.
I sometimes feel we get a bit complacent.. Almost need a bad result before or a decision against us like Angella's red at Reading to get us going Also we always lose at least one of a set of fixtures which look "favourable"..if there is such a thing in this league!
It's not just Watford that are playing inconsistently its ALL the other teams as well. I wouldn't like to bet on the final day who is going up. We will win next Saturday because this is what we do
Time to take off the rose tinted specs.....this coach is clueless of the championship, as well as tactics, positions etc etc. ...doesn't even sound half sensible. Has taken us from 1st to 6th with like 6 defeats from 10 games.....we are definitely the worst performing team in the top 6. We are not even playing like a top half team! Sorry for the frustration but we're now at the sharp end of the season and are not going to be anywhere near promotion at this rate. We have great pool of players who have now been turned into under performing and disjointed with no game plan or purpose
Sorry Dave - clicked post twice! Vydra has probably been listening to his agent too much and feels he doesn't hasn't got to do as much work as he should.
We arrived early to the coast today, now, (un)fortunately there is better net connection than ever. Under the heat of the 9am sun a barman put the game on the big screen (thanks for the link). 3 points. 1. we didn't deserve to win. 2. that abdi chance could have given us an undeserved victory. 3. i doubt we're going up in autos.
Staines orn - did you used to sit behind me in the Rous. I have just checked back on your previous posts and every one of them is negative and call for the manager to be sacked. in 2011 you really had it in for Sean Dyche - in October of all months - how wrong you were then. Unfortunately all your positive posts on GFZ and Sannino are missing - oh - perhaps there were none. Are you a QPR fan in disguise?
Although results are (obviously) the most important, it seems wrong to me that everyone, from commentators to media and some , probably most, supporters take the result as the definition of what actually happened. Ok. we weren't great. I did have a foreboding that it felt like the birmingham game, - all in our favour, and then we lost. Seems we need to score first. But as a game, first half wasn't too pretty, and Town did have better chances. Layun didn't look much like his video, but he probably doesn't often play in those conditions! I was surprised he played whole game, as 2 town goals came from his work. Vydra worked hard, but has become shot-shy. However, the substitutions were really good (gomez no choice), we should have scored 3 times at least in 2nd half, and Abdi being pulled back in 1st half was disgraceful. He played really well, apart from his glaring miss. A draw would have been quite reasonable result on the whole play and the town 3rd goal was spectacular. Good luck to them. We'll know by mid march whether auto promotion is on. It seems unlikely, but I think still possible. we can still do this !
Watching the extended "highlights" on the FL show, it was alarming how easily Huddersfield got down the flanks and got in crosses or shots. Our midfield never seemed to control the game-- too lightweight and no answer when pressed in possession. Give our midfield space to play and they are deadly. No space and they are ineffective. Vydra seems to be wasted by the way we are playing currently. When did he last score? The manager bemoaned the lack of a team ethic--another alarming admission from the chap whose job it is to lead in the creation of a team spirit. A big offer could see Deeney go this month--the Pozzos do need to see some income from their investment in order to pay off the bonds later in the year, and Deeney himself might see the writing on the wall-- if he wants to get into the Prem sooner rather than later (or not at all) best leave Watford now.
While each of our last three managers may have had good individual strengths, none of them appear to be good all rounders...strong on skill development, tactics and morale building.
