I think in the situation you're in it is. I don't believe you can attract that unless you cherry pick someone like Eddie Howell from Bournemouth. Actually thinking about it, he is an up and coming, young, ambitious manager who is succeeding where he is - not some old dog you tend to get in at QPR! I'll get on the phone...
Give him a 6 month contract with a nice bonus if he keeps us up or a 'thanks for your efforts' if we go down - can't be any worse that what we saw today/most of the season.... I agree awjm that we need a root & branch change to our management & coaching set up - in my opinion we have the nucleus of a half decent playing squad (Green, McCarthy, Isla, YSY, Fer, Adel, Vargas, Charlie, Caulker, Ned, Faurlin & some good youngsters) but they don't look fit, there is a lack of pace/shape/cohesion which must be down to management/coaching. I also agree long term that the way forward for the club is to bring in a young, fresh management/coaching set up but realistically would Paul Clement/Eddie Howe etc take the job at this moment? Warnock on a 6 month is a no lose situation - we will go down anyway if we carry on as we are. Many on here were screaming for the board to get Pulis - he's hardly modern/forward thinking, is he? I think Warnock could at least get the current squad of players to care...I fear we may have to take one step back to make two steps forward.
Anyone who can give this club a playing identity, a (footballing) philosophy, a direction and stability would be welcome. If we go down this year, which is looking very likely at the moment, we will have wasted nearly three seasons living hand to mouth with no thought beyond the next game with Redknapp, zero young players developed (even for sale), lots of **** players moved out, but equally/not much better ones shipped in. **** all progress.
Yeah well, you know, it's difficult, you know it's not easy. They're a good team, the manager's done a top job there, you know. It's hard, you know.
You can accept a team playing risky swashbuckling football that's not quite coming off. You can accept dross survival football from a new PL team that will keep the club in the big time. We have neither. And we haven't seen decent football for over 3 years. We have been patient but we have had enough now. We look nailed on for relegation. I genuinely don't see what we have to lose by a change.
We absolutely have to get rid of Redknapp this weekend or else we are doomed, in my opinion. I wouldn't particularly have wanted Pulis or Pardew, but they will keep their respective new clubs up. Redknapp is a dead man walking. Hard to see an immediate long-term appointment, so let Hoddle take over with Sir Les as assistant. **** off 'Arry.
This. Up to now I've tried to not jump on bandwagons but our current situation has changed dramatically for the worse over a few short weeks with our form & confidence at rock bottom whilst our nearest challengers have all made improvements. Without some changes I can only see things continuing with relegation now odds on so if there's going to be a change it does need to happen now.
I think sherwood would tear them all a new arsehole and get some fight and bolloks back on the side. Severe lack of bolloks on that pitch
Alan Pardew seems already resigned to relegation: "We have to look at this as in 18 months to be a Premier League team. If it takes going down and bouncing back we can be almost as strong if we do it right"
Lots of talk about arseholes and bollocks there Jamesy. You take a double dose of Viagra tonight or summat?
It might work with Hoddle. But somehow I think we need something completely fresh and new. But then again, maybe Hoddle would be great. I think what we need more than anything is for the players to be fired up. Organisation and tactics are almost secondary. We need to get everyone on the same page. Harry is dramatically failing at that.
Benitez could return to the Premier League as it emerges he will will leave Napoli at the end of the season
