Chelsea game aside, Spurs have been so mediocre this season and it's times like today when I genuinely can't believe they are ahead of us. They've been truly diabolical in some matches. We've been poor as well don't get me wrong but there have been countless times where Spurs have not played well at all yet have come out with 3 points! Can anyone remember a time this season where we have won a match after being thoroughly outplayed by the opposition? I can't think of any.
The moaning on the spurs board about the ref is comedy gold, I seriously don't think spurs have lost a game in the last 3 years that was not the fault of the referee, well according to the spurs supporters on not 606. Every time its the fault of the ref lol.
Spuds have been rising their luck this season, they have won a lot of games that they probably should have drawn or lost if it weren't for the charity of the opposition. I think they got a bit unlucky with the pens today and this might be the sign that their luck has run out.
I thought they got a bit unlucky with the Palace pen, but you can see why it was given. Stambouli went diving in recklessly and was always going to put his team in danger of conceding a pen. The Kane claim at the end was another attempt to try and fool the ref (even though there was contact) and like Chadli in the first half, the ref wasn't buying it.
We weren't great that game but I didn't think we were thoroughly outplayed. I still maintain Spurs and United are two of the luckiest sides in the division when it has come down to results. Today they can perhaps feel aggrieved with the penalty they conceded, but they were fortunate that they weren't down to 10 men earlier.
