same old, same old why can we not defend properly. nothing can be achieved when you leak/gift goals as we do so often
So much for this being an important game, start of the new year push etc. Still struggling in defence.
Just can't work it out. On paper etc....this forms needs to be so much better if we've any chance of challenging for second.
awful. Deeney is slow, the defense is shakey, the passing leaves a lot to be desired! If teams press, we don't win. Hudderfield pressed, and we didn't stand a chance. I don't understand how such a good team can look so awful!
I can't see how on earth we're holding on to a playoff place. This has the feel of a lower-mid table season tinged with relegation worries. Depressing.
We could have done with Guédioura today - on the bench for Palace v Spurs tonight - I don't think that the current team is set up for the Championship. We should have punished Huddersfield on the break today but we don't seem capable of doing this - no problem for us a couple of seasons ago under Zola. The Championship has probably moved on since then and we are missing a bit of craft, determination and grit to make an impact on the top 6.
No need to get quite so depressed GG - or for that matter elated when we win. No side is going to be worried about relegation that can win 5-0 and 4-2 away from home. On the other hand, realistically we are not going to challenge for automatic promotion either at this rate. I suggest that the best we can hope for this season is that our inconsistency is such that we scrape into the play-offs in 6th place. Then we will either go on a purple patch and go up, or lose both play-off SFs...... This is a very tough League. The bad day at Wembley looms ever larger and may be more important than we think.
I have to say, I'm genuinely disappointed that you lost today, but I hope you'll understand that I'm bouncing round the room over our win, away to top of the table Bournemouth, down to ten men, yet we pulled it off in spite of Chris Foy's best efforts. Don't despair, there's a long way to go yet, I'm sure Watford bwill be in the mix at season's end!
Just got back.... Immediate thoughts... Tactically we got it all wrong in the first half... passes went astray no one seemed o to forward on the flanks and balls were ofent passed there to no one...... lots of crowding in the midfield. I think the mgt team have ot take some responsibility for that Gomes played well in the first half. Hudds had loads of chances and looked dangerous. 2nd half... Gomes injured Bond came on and in my view we were more vulnerable. From my end I think they scored one good goal, were lucky with another, and Bond should have saved one. We were lucky with the goal we scored their goalie fudged and easy shot. When Anya and Ighalo came on we looked a completely different team up front ..... and if they had started I am sure the result would have been different. In the last 20 mins ewvery time we went forwards it looked like we might score.... Abdi (I think) missed as sitter when we were 1-1. Deeney missed a golded chance by passing rather than shooting. Overall not top 6 play I am afraid....... but touches of how good we can be so all is not lost....
