On yer bike, you agent provocateur you. One of the responsibilities of freedom of speech is to have the sense to know when not to use it. I rarely exercise this self restraint, so enjoy the moment.
Oh dear I knew certain posters couldn't hold back for that long and a good thread would turn to s@@t At least they are consistent !
why do we seem to have to adapt to all the peoples coming into our countries why do they not try to adapt to the countries they have been accepted into if you want your women to be second class citizens then stay in your own country if you want to come into our godless countries don't expect me to kowtow to your god leave your baggage at your country of departure if you leave your place of birth because it is a ****hole don't expect the new place to be the same don't complain cause it aint the same integrate learn the bloody language etc etc
Yep I left the UK for those reasons kiwi.. But those still there just cannot see it.. As for the racism thing.. Bit of an on going joke on this forum tbh !
Now that is 100% correct. My folks used to say that regularly about when they lived in England. The English people were so polite and friendly toward them and they never heard a cross word despite it being understandable if there was because the IRA were kicking off their campaign while they were still there. Still, not a word was said to them. Immigration is a very good thing IMO but to be fair to western Country's, they all have to have their cutoff point. However, the UK, like France, is in a position where history is kind of coming back to haunt them. Being a former colonial power means that the citizens of old empire Countries then swarm to the "Motherland" unhindered. They're fantastic people, 99.9% of them and they enrich western Countries no end. But the fact is, sooner or later, a Government has to decide you know what, the people that have settled here are our valued brothers and sisters but now we've got to slow it down and integrate what we have. And then move on from there. How possible that is is another matter.
One of the problems is not so much those now entering the country but often 2nd and 3rd generation disaffected teenagers who somehow see Jihad as 'cool' and have been eloquently radicalised by some very clever and manipulative hate-preachers. We have spent so long bending over backwards not to offend many of these groups that we have now reached the 'tipping point' where we've suddenly realised this is now right in our midst and so entrenched it will be near impossible to avoid a Paris-style atrocity in the near future...
Terroists don't want you dead Col handle the fear sir they are not coming for you. You will be very unlucky if you are caught in an attack They are a minority with different views and prepared to act towards a world that doesn't care about the damage they have caused Our solution is to bomb innocent people using cowardly technology from miles away and we feel we can be justified? I love the west it's where i live, I will live in France full time because I like the countryside and peace and life is simpler ... Houses are cheaper, food is better ... it's a return for me to the basics of what life should be. I escape the chaos of what English Culture and attitudes have become it's really that simple. I totally respect the mix of people I know in France ... all regions because I am confident that 99.9% of mankind is naturally peaceful. I state again that what is happening to us is without the result of actions we have done collectively I do not believe these attacks are from aggressors without their reasons for doing so. We were the bad guys first without doubt trying to steal or interfere for our own gain this has now been spun into our culture that because we do not understand or want to understand or even listen then we must be right We are not right ... Killing people should and has always had consequences on any side. We are at war with these people who do not want to understand our views but the question remains why don't they? I have zero sympathy for the foul killers who did this last awful deed they in turn got what was coming to them ... they can rot ... My beef is with the bigger picture and how the west needs to admit to the world it's awful mistakes and take responsibility to try and put it right ... only then can we all hope for peace when no one has causes to get extreme about
That's garbage. He doesn't understand the difference between satirising and challenging ideas - which religion, politics, philosophy are - and attacking people for things they can't change - their colour, race, sexuality etc. Really weak.
In the grand scheme of things its not that important, but for those of us who believe that challenging ideas is the way to end up with better ideas, it's fair game.
I was unaware of Joe Sacco until now. It's good to know that I haven't been missing anything. Cheers for the post though WLLLL.
i think this is a good piece on the subject.... http://hitchensblog.mailonsunday.co.uk ...but I would, of course, expect the usual suspects to believe otherwise.
I still look at it this way .. We come from a world that allows us to air our views .. like this forum? ... We practice on here and need some rules and respect or we upset people. Total free speech has no restraints but there are consequences Look at a culture however daft and stupid it sounds or makes you angry. People believe in things passionately cultures are built on it.... from that you are always going to get extreme views (like mime on here?) If those extreme views are put into direct action and it results in a **** storm then it is wrong and those have to be punished. There is a price for your actions .. always. I don't say respect the actions I say try and understand why and respect the reasons events take place I believe you get to that place then you have a chance of preventing it happening and we all learn and build for a future People are no good we make mistakes every day we sin against our own beliefs everyday. We are in very dangerous times when we all think we are smarter than other people ... we are not we are ants
