The only time I drove was at school once and I kept stalling, I think I was taking my foot off the clutch too quickly.

Clutch control is the hardest thing to get, especially on hill starts, but suddenly you get it. It's muscle memory and you never think about how you do it ever again.

Pedal to the metal, drive it like you stole it, and mirror, signal, wheel spin ☺

But actually, cars can be a dangerous thing. Be sensible, in control and aware of your surroundings. I hit a kid on a driving lesson, not so funny.

Good way to spare yourself anxiety when learning to hill-start with a stick-shift: throw on the emergency brake. It'll allow you to find the friction point with (assuming the e-brake is in good condition) far less worry about rolling into a vehicle behind you. A well-maintained e-brake can hold you in place without the pedal brake depressed, which is great for finding the combination of clutch point and throttle necessary to get you going in the right direction.

Related: if at all possible, learn to drive stick with a car that you (or your parents, or whoever owns it) isn't concerned about revving a bit or smoking the clutch a tad. An older-model is the best in that regard, because it isn't going to take off (sub-130hp is your friend!), and no one will get terribly distraught if you hit 2nd instead of 4th and redline it for a moment.

I've only ever watched the film of that on a plane. I was sat next to a young 19 year old lady with the saints foundation on the way back from Kenya. We watched that movie. I didn't get it. I ended up laughing when she laughed. I realised then I was old.

Never watched an episode before or since.

As for those who may worry about failing a driving test; don't worry. It's a bit like a marriage; if you fail the first one, it just makes you a better, more experienced driver for the next time :)

I took my test in my own car even though I often took lessons in the instructors car. The reason....it was an Austin 1100...just at the right moment, the front lifted slightly. Then you were ready to go.

The dog abandoned with his suitcase was left there by a woman who had bought him but changed her mind. She said she called the owner who said he would collect the dog from the station as she had to catch a train. He is a large dog who seems to have had a series of unsuitable owners. Poor dog...needs to find experienced dog owners. Not the type of dog you should buy randomly over the phone.

    http://news.sky.com/story/1404532/court-rules-teen-patient-cannot-refuse-chemo
Case in America where a court has ruled that a 17-yr-old girl cannot refuse chemotherapy. How exactly can you force someone to have chemotherapy? Isn't a certain level of cooperation required? And at 17, isn't she old enough to know her own mind? I can understand that they might want to be certain she isn't under undue influence of her mother, but a few days separated from her mother should sort that out.

A husband went to the sheriff’s department to report
    that his wife was missing.

Husband: My wife is missing. She went shopping yesterday and has not come home.

    Sergeant: What is her height?

Husband: Gee, I’m not sure. A little over five-feet tall.

    Sergeant: Weight?

Husband: Don’t know. Not slim, not really fat.

    Sergeant: Color of eyes?

    Husband: Never noticed.

    Sergeant: Color of hair?

Husband: Changes a couple times a year. Maybe dark brown.

    Sergeant: What was she wearing?

Husband: Could have been a skirt or shorts. I don’t remember exactly.

Sergeant: What kind of car did she go in?

Husband: She went in my truck.

Sergeant: What kind of truck was it?

Husband: Brand new 2015 Ford F150 King Ranch 4X4 with eco-boost 5.0L V8 engine special ordered with manual transmission. It has a custom matching white cover for the bed. Custom leather seats and “Bubba” floor mats. Trailering package with gold hitch. DVD with navigation, 21-channel CB radio, six cup holders, and four power outlets. Added special alloy wheels and off-road Michelins. Wife put a small scratch on the drivers door. At this point the husband started choking up.

Sergeant: Don’t worry buddy. We’ll find your truck.
