Agreed; we're in the thick of things now, if we're expecting departures we might as well push some of our summer budget up to January.

Simply cash flow and sticking to the FFP rules I expect

 

I for one would be a happy man if he stayed....unlikely but possible if we stay top 4.

 

We're in absolutely zero danger of running afoul of FFP. As for cash flow, that might be a concern, but I'd be surprised given that we ran a pretty significant surplus in the summer window.

I'm not talking about going on a massive spending spree in any instance, but if there are players we're planning to make runs at in the summer, and they serve a purpose now, for all the talk of January's price inflation, they'll be even more inflated if we're thought to be flush with cash.

Much/any chance of that, barring CL qualification? Thought you'd suggested that you're about 100% sure he's off.

 

99% chance he is going. I would never say 100% as even crazy things happen.

 

He is more attacking than Morgan granted, but maybe Ron thinks that we have defensive midfield cover in Vic, Reeves, (hoping Toby and Cork) and maybe Stevens or other youth. If Morgan is to be replaced I would look for a quality offensive midfielder to play alongside Vic

 

How much of that surplus will have been used to fund the new training complex which cost twice as much as planned?

 

Big signing in January to make up for losing Schneiderlin & Clyne in the summer? I can just about deal with that.

 

Reeves? Or did your mind wander from Vic to Reeves, but meant Harrison Reed?

Diego Capel anyone? Apparently we were linked last summer. Cant say his past season performances are anything to get excited over. Any meat to this?

So if we assume that Koeman is being honest and there is only one more incoming this window who out of the names linked do you think it will be? Was thinking about it and I reckon it is none of the links and it will be similar to the Mane/Yoshida transfers where we get linked to the player a day or two before it happens. I can't see it being Martins Indi as the club is pretty well off for centre backs atm, we may be in for one in the summer if Alderweireld doesn't make his loan permanent. Quintero I think will go somewhere else, probably in Europe. Think if we are only signing one more then it has to be a striker and we haven't been strongly linked to one off the top of my head

 

Has to be a striker. we need a 10-12 goal a season guy.

 

If we have champs league ambitions we should get Lacazette. If not then Ings/Austin

 

You don't buy replacements when there is even a small chance they could stay. If you buy a players replacement when he is still actually at the club, then it is a even easier choice for the player.

 

We don't need another winger.
