    HUDDERSFIELD v WATFORD
please log in to view this image
    • Venue: John Smith's Stadium
    • Date: Saturday, 10 January
    • Kick-off: 15:00 GMT

    Team news:

Huddersfield will be without suspended midfielder Jonathan Hogg, so Jacob Butterfield could return.

Centre-half Joel Lynch could start after a groin injury has kept him out for five weeks but Murray Wallace is doubtful with a hamstring strain.

Watford hope to welcome back Heurelho Gomes and Ikechi Anya from injury.

Striker Fernando Forestieri (hamstring) is a doubt, whilst defenders Joel Ekstrand (back) and Gabriel Tamas (cruciate) are both out.

    Match Facts:
    Huddersfield:

    • Huddersfield have won only one of their last five games in all competitions. Their only win since early December was 2-1 against Bolton at home in the Championship on 28 December.
    • The Terriers have lost two of their last three home games in all competitions, losing 1-0 against Birmingham in the Championship and 1-0 against Reading in the FA Cup.
    Watford:

    • Watford have won four of their last five games in the Championship, losing one. Their only league defeat since November was 1-0 against Wolves at home on Boxing Day.
    • The Hornets have won their last three away games in the Championship, against Fulham, Reading and Cardiff.
    Comment:

Chris Powell is ready to go on a charm offensive to freshen up his Huddersfield Town squad.

The manager says bringing in new recruits is seldom straightforward, especially at this stage of the season, but certainly not impossible.

While plenty of players are available, terms have to suit both parties.

And rival suitors have to be seen off, not always easy when the budget is strict.

“It’s a busy spell, that’s for sure, and there are plenty of calls being made,” explained Powell.

“I’d love to be able to make an announcement, but these things can often take time.

“Just when you think you are getting somewhere, a deal can slow down."

Watford must be ready to return to the real world when they face Huddersfield Town.

That’s the warning from head coach Slavisa Jokanovic ahead of the Championship clash.

Serbian Jokanovic took his team back to former club Chelsea in the FA Cup last Sunday.

They were beaten 3-0, but have won four of their last five league games and are fifth.

The former Yugoslavia midfielder wants Watford to claim a seventh away win of the season.

“We are back in our real life. It is important to be constant now,” he said.

“But we have another hard game in front of us. Huddersfield are a good team and work hard.

“If we aren’t 100 per cent ready for fighting, running and working like a team, then we will find many problems.

“They will press us, and won’t let us play with the ball. We must be ready for this situation.”

Thank goodness Hogg isn't playing against us, I am sure he would have scored a once in a blue moon goal!

I am not sure he is allowed to play against us due to his Aston Villa loan agreement.

On a more serious subject, I have checked the beIN sports schedule and they are NOT showing the game. The Derby v Ipswich game is yer lot if you are in the US.

It is a shame Fessi is a doubt. He always seems to tear Huddersfield up - and they don't like him for that reason.

Nice one OFH. I have been to the last couple of games there and always had a good time, but giving it the miss today - I will miss The Gas Club. As stated above, they do not like FF up there.
I am going for my favourite prediction - a 3-1 Watford win.

Thanks for that although it's currently stating "No broadcasts found in your territory for this match." Geoblocked is the term, I believe. :(

Think we need at least 7 points from the next 3 games (preferably 9) - Hudd, Charlton, Blackpool. Got Bournemouth away after that...a 2-1 win today

Manchester referee Chris Kavanagh will be the man in the middle for the match at the John Smith’s Stadium. This is Kavanagh’s first season as a Football League referee, and this will be the first time that he has refereed both Huddersfield and Watford.
Kavanagh has officiated 16 matches this season, 2 of which coming in the Championship, and he has handed out 47 yellow cards and 2 red.
Linesman – Steven Copeland and Gary Hilton
    Fourth Official – Christopher Sarginson.

thank you OFH. Blimey the matches just grow in importance by the week don't they? There has been a lot of concern on here about playing as a team and I suspect they'll need to show real cohesion in spades today. COYH
