Many thinks Hull City will struggle. So who and why should this be so ? Surely looking at other squads Hull City are a nailed on Top 6 club.
West Ham & Birmingham are big contenders ... i see Reading, Leeds, Forest as a threat aswell and think teams like Southampton, Brighton, Watford, Brizzle City may have a good say on the top half of the table works out
I think other clubs might have better squads but we should build on last season all things being equal, think we might just sneak a play-off spot.
Why all the fuss about Brighton? Yes, they had a fantastic 2010-2011, but that's no guarantee of them doing well in a far tougher Championship. I think many are getting excited just because they've spunked £4.5m on two new signings.
My thoughts on Leeds. Reading are also losing there key players. Brighton and Southampton who knows and there squads are nowhere near Hulls so far. West Ham and Birmingham would walk the league if they stayed with the squads that got them relegated. But the summer exodus of both squads will soon gain speed. But this is a great debate and one that will rumble on and on all summer long and into the winter. For now lets all keep the debate going.
I'm not saying they're better the us... just putting the teams that i think will have a say on the top half
I expect TWS to have a poorer season this year due to the players they've lost. On paper West Ham, Birmingham, Leicester, Boro, Reading, Ipswich and maybe Bristol have better squads, but we all know in this league that can count for nothing. As we saw in 2008 hard work and good team spirit can take you up to the PL. There'll be a suprise package this season and one team who has a poorer season than expected, such is the nature of this division.
last season we did not lose one single game to ANY of the 3 promoted teams.. QPR 2 draws 0-0 (home) & 1-1 (away) Norwich 1 win 1 draw 2-0 (away) & 1-1 (home) Swansea 1 win & 1 draw 2-0 (home) & 1-1 (away) that isn't too scruffy is it? I'm feeling optimistic..
Where did we finish last season? and what new players have we got? Two old men in addition to those players we had on loan. Unfortunately there are at least ten teams with better squads than we have. I know, I know. The transfer window is still open so what are you all expecting?. I would like more to happen.
On paper I'd say that Birmingham, West Ham and Leicester are the only 3 teams with better squads than us. However come the end of the transfer window I reckon Forest, Reading and maybe Burnley could all gain a lot more than us. I'm only saying that we have one of the best squads in the league because atm, our midfield would monster any other in the league.
We did pretty well against the top clubs bar Cardiff but we lost at home against Scunny and the blunts that killed our season.
This is quite a hard question to answer, I suppose if you ask the same question to other sets of fans they wouldn't rate our squad, after all we 'only have Man United youth players' LOL. We've seen the bulk of these signings week in week out and I rate them. Other teams haven't and probably wouldn't give us a look in, which is why they wouldn't give us a chance and I think it's hard looking at other squads at the minute based on this. Look at Cardiff last year, they spent big and got nothing and now all the decent players have left. I can see Leicester doing the same this year, West Ham (on paper) shouldn't have a problem, but they're still on a massive clear out and could do a Cardiff and throw everything at it which is going to be a massive gamble for then as, I believe, they're more skint than us. Birmingham, again, similar to West Ham losing a lot a players, the owner in jail but probably will be OK (unless all of their money is froaze due to this). I think the suprise package will be Southampton (like TWS and Millwall last year) are going to settle down really well, I personally cant see TWS and Millwall being anywhere close this year.
Our promotion team contained players that EPL Clubs were very interested in, Myhill, Turner, Ricketts and Fraizer Campbell. We have none, imo, of that calibre in our current team. We have a few players who would be considered 'average' for this league but none 'above average', again imo, so I cannot see us making top half next season. I think there are at least a dozen teams with better sides than we have but nobody can really make a constructive comment until we see how the team has 'bonded' during the close season and in friendlies. We will know the result of this in the early game results and will be much better placed to form a more constructive opinion then.
I think you may be right, but our management hasn't taken a reckless gamble on 'star' players. We've mainly got a group of young, keen guys - and it's to be hoped they all improve and gel as a team. As you say.
Oh dear. And what information are you basing this opinion on then ? As for Hull City. Its was the start to the season that cost us a top 6 spot. END OF. Please do your homework before posting. Stops you looking a fool
SPOT ON POST MATE. Also, QPR were only tipped to finish 14th last season and Norwich to go straight back down. I feel a massive push for PL again this season.
