Thought the same myself Norway. Imagine it being 40 big ugly blokes? Anyway they will be dead within 24hrs so they can find out. They can take their sick dinosaur beliefs with them.
Very true, think the point I was trying to make was about freedom, be that of speech or to be able to live your live as yourself without persecution which is relvant.
Dave, I understand the argument and it's entirely laudable. However, political terrorists and fundamentalist religious terrorists are very different things. Eventually, you can negotate with political terrorists (even if very reluctantly) because they have defined and understandable (if not always acceptable) objectives and eventually compromises can be reached - Ireland is a good example, but there are many others. With religious fundamentalists, their objective is to destroy our way of life, no compromise. So no understanding can be reached. We can't say 'Hmm, you want to destroy the West? What if you do Milton Keynes and call it a day with that, is that enough?' (Thank you Stewart Lee). I'd happily compromise if I thought it was going to work and not remove the last shreds of my own (largely imaginary) freedom in the process, but it's not. The injustices the West has inflicted on the key bits of the world in this mess have been political and economic - drawing stupid boundaries in deserts which don't reflect nomadic cultures, pinching oil etc etc - not religious. How the response to these injustices justifies murdering and kidnapping children in Nigeria because they go to school is utterly beyond me. Strange discussion, you are usually the black/white perspective on here and I'm more usually the shades of grey (ok, 50 will be fine).
The Cop they shot dead when he asked for quarter was a Muslim. Fukking clowns killed one of their own.
Swords, your likes per post ratio is a worrying 64. i.e you have to post 64 times to get a single like. Mine is a much more healthy 45. Kiwi somehow has achieved a startling ratio of 5.9 posts per like. But new boy Tim is killing us all with 6 likes for his 8 posts, a stunning ratio of 1.3! Welcome Tim. I thought it was the female police officer killed in the seperate incident yesterday who was Muslim.
Thanks SB, all I did (to get most of the 'likes') was question that our players actually did training, says a lot really :/
I agree with some of that Paul. However, you keep on saying the same thing over and over and I've highlighted it on your quote. You say - "How can we wish, dream or drive towards a solution if we don't try to accept other peoples beliefs?" What you never seem to acknowledge is that it is the Muslim radicals who NEVER accept other peoples' beliefs. I believe that we, here in the UK are actually now one of the most welcoming of peoples, who go out of their way not to upset other people with regards to their religious beliefs etc. Unfortunately it is the Muslim extremists who will never accept anyone other than like-minded people with regards to religion. It is them that have to show respect. It is them who have to change or be eradicated.
The two brothers suspected of massacring staff at the offices of Charlie Hebdo in Paris have been killed and their hostage freed. Gunshots were heard at the Dammartin-en-Goele factory where brothers Said and Cherif Kouachi had been holed up with a 26-year-old male hostage. According to media reports in France the brothers - who came out firing - have been killed and their hostage freed safely.
Unfortunately, in the other siege, although the extremist has been killed, four of his hostages have also been killed!
I'm quite satisfied with that ratio actually, Sir Stanley of Pharmaceutelot. Given the amount of posts I put up here on a daily basis that must equate to about 2 or 3 likes per day
Do you think the BBC can bring back some of the 300 reporters they have in Paris now? Including the news anchors, who do nothing but read from auto cues, or in that Welsh blokes case his mobile phone because he was outside.
I was going to say that's putting a brave face on it, then I noticed Col's ratio and you are flying mate.
I had five minutes to kill whilst sitting on the ****ter, so I've improved your ratio. I have no idea what drivel of yours I've "liked", but I've "liked it all the same". No need to thank me, just "like" this post, like.
Well it seems to be over now. 20 dead over some sick dinosaur beliefs that are not relevant in the 21st Century. Killing some cartoonists/police and innocent people then ending up going out in a hail of bullets and a single gunshot just to the head to make sure. What has it achieved? I will spare a thought for all those victims bar those terrorist freaks. As for the terrorist i don't care, i will look forward to QPR tomorrow. They can rot with the rest of the dinosaurs. RIP to the victims
Just got back to Paris after being in London for two days for a funeral. Arriving back in Paris was very strange. Life as normal in many ways with people busy commuting, but then also, a very heavy police presence. I decided to head home, and stay home for the night...which I am doing. I had armed gendarmes on the metro, and on the train platform, and around the streets of where I live, in the 11eme. So far, the response here has been incredible. Thousands gathered two nights ago at place de republique to peacefully protest the shootings at Charlie Hebdo. Still unclear exactly what the death toll is today, but all very sad. What I just don't get, is what on earth to these people think they'll achieve through this? All it does is create division and tension. Just madness.
