He makes a mistake almost every time he touches the ball by either hoofing it up the field or passing it to the keeper instead of picking an intelligent pass
http://www.itv.com/sport/football/article/2015-01-09/premier-league-team-news-west-brom-v-hull/? How poor, is this reporting. Says Dawson back in the squad this week, then names the provincial squad and he's not in it. Someone needs to make up their mind, either he's in or out
Are you unable to read? It clearly says he's been our best centre half "recently" I aren't saying he's a better player than Chester, Davies, or Dawson I'm saying he's been better than them in recent games, so Dawson doesn't even come into it as he hasn't played.
Well it depends on your definition of 'recently', I consider 'recently' to be the first half of the season. He's been with us for two and a half season and there have been more games he's made mistakes in than done something that'd constitute merit. He hasn't been better than Chester in recent weeks at all, maybe in the Everton game he was just as good, but not better. And while Davies has made more mistakes this season, he's still an all round better defender than Bruce Jnr, he just has more ability and more experience at this level. I agree he's put in passable performances these last few games, but I've actually watched him for 90 (or 50 or however long he's lasted) and often the result overshadows his personal performance. It's tough on him and credit to him for keeping his place in the team, he's done alright, but it's safe to say he's punching above his weight. We don't want players who are going to occasionally have a decent game, we need Premier League consistency and Bruce Jnr can't offer us that. We're usually very tight defensively, but that's down to the quality of centre backs we've had available, not how good Bruce is.
Is it only me that thinks Maguire would do good job up front if we were chasing a game? I wouldn't fancy marking him!
do we have any sellable players? when was the last time a club tried to get one of our first teamers? i forgot long.. I'm an idiot
I don't understand criticism of Bruce when Davies has been worse than average for weeks if not all season, it's not Bruces job to be playmaker so criticism of his passing is a bit over the top
Lets face it with Alex, if his second name wasn't Bruce, we would all be saying how good he has been lately. Instead, we get the "well if it wasn't for his dad he wouldn't get a game" bollocks. He isn't a world beater, but he has been doing an excellent job for us in my opinion.
. Alex Bruce’s return from a hamstring injury has made a major contribution to helping dad Steve out of the crisis developing at Hull. The Tigers now have two wins in four games since the 30-year-old central defender, fighting to win a new contract at the KC Stadium when his current deal runs out at the end of the season, returned to the starting line-up. Against Everton he was Hull’s best defender, making 13 clearances and finding a team-mate with 100 per cent of his passes. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...-settling-Man-City-Joe-Cole-turning-flop.html
I think SB will go with. McGregor Chester/Dawson/Davies Elmo/Livermore/Meyler/Quinn/Brady Jelavis/Hernandez.
Maguire has done very well and it bodes well for his confidence.. I remember Liam Cooper's baptism of fire vs Liverpool, he never seemingly recovered
Same apart from Bruce for Dawson. No need to rush Dawson back, he's proving a bit injury prone anyway.
