    The only thing Newcastle is known for over there is for brown ale and goal xD I contemplated saying Billy Elliot but that's County Durham afterall ;)

    they were lucky i was only little.

    One bloke said Newcastle are ****. Asked whos team he supported guess who ARSENAL this was after the 4-4 so me being drunk shouted 4-0 and you ****ed it up. He walked away head bowed.

    I went to the Wigan match last year with a friend of a friend from Peru, and he'd been dreaming of going to a match at SJP ever since he first saw Solano lace up the boots in the black and white. I got the impression from him that he's one of many Peruvians that have Newcastle loyalty because of him

    I wore my Toon top in New York and came accross a bunch of smoggies in Boro tops near Maddison sq Garden they'd been beaten 3-0 by West Brom, great banter.... was abit surreal though.

    If one more person from home asks me "So how's living in London?" after I tell them I'm going to Newcastle University I might have to disown them all as friends...it's true, moving to the North East of England really inspires serious loyalty

    Think it's wierd that people in a country support a team cause of one player like, I never supported Bayern Munich when Owen Hargreaves played (or sat on the sick bench) for them.

    I think the level of interest in MLS rose in the UK after Beckham joined LA Galaxy though. I suppose it depends on the player.
