Bruce has admitted to being 1 of the 3 Premier League managers who offered their support to Oldham Athletic, well done Brucie.
The gifted Evans should have just done what Portnoy did: "Portnoy, in the depths of his confession, mentions how he once masturbated against a piece of liver that he then put back in the freezer." [Philip Roth]
I'm not sure Bruce's comments are very clever, he seems to be suggesting he thinks the CCRC will overturn the conviction.
Kinell, I've just read the full interview, he's gone even further than I thought... 'I've known Simon for a lot of years now. He'd looked at the case too. He was of the opinion to give the kid a chance. I can only say on behalf of myself, I know I might be upsetting people but there is a question of the rape and how he's been convicted by a jury. 'When you look at the evidence, it is there for appeal.' 'It's a very difficult situation for everyone concerned. It's a pity they could not have the appeal and get it over and done with. 'It has divided opinion of course and when you look at the case in detail and, I don't think most people have really, because they have just seen Ched Evans as a convicted rapist, when you do look at the case and look at the evidence then certainly Ched has got a case. 'For me the appeal can't come quick enough for Ched. It must be a frustrating and difficult time for him and I think the events of the appeal, for me, will see Ched be allowed to play football again.' http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...m-Athletic-Ched-Evans-move.html#ixzz3OJwjRmeS
He's going to feel the full wrath of the twitterati womens libbers and the 'morally outraged' mob for those comments. Stick your tin hat on Brucie lad
Wow. Kinell indeed. My respect for Arry has gone up a bit. They both know the reaction their statements will get from the baying mob, so they both have massive balls to come out and say that. Considering the ramifications of appeals in all cases, not just this one, it's baffling how they can take so sodding long. Well said both.
I ageee with most of what he's saying, but I'm surprised he's said so much on the subject. Seems really naiive.
Agree with that last bit Happy..not fair on anyone that even when fast tracked they expect it to take 30 weeks.
You think its naive to have an opinion, and to voice those opinions? Some people like to stand by and display the courage of their convictions. Never give in to terrorists or mobs.
Jesus Brucie, way to kick the hornets nest! Regardless of whether what he says is right or wrong, surely a manager of a football club not even linked to signing him shouldn't be getting involved in discussing legal bits and pieces, maybe a comment on the football side of things, but the legal bits.....blimey.....as PLT says, very naieve
Look what happened to Dave Whelan when he decided to voice his opinion. With matters as sensitive as this sometimes it's best not to go public with your opinion especially when a backlash is inevitable.
It is when it's such a contentious issue and you're not in full possession of all the facts. In fact, despite having some sympathy with what he's saying, I think him saying it publicly was incredibly stupid.
He's already had two appeals. His first appeal was turned down. He then appealed that decision and that was turned down as well. This will be his third attempt to overturn his conviction.
I dont usually read the Mail, but Martin Samuel has written a very good piece on this. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2902548/Ched-Evans-affair-worse-giving-mob.html
Do not get 'proof' confused with the 'verdict'. 'Proof' requires hard evidence to conclusively show physically, scientifically or verbally that the incident happened. A 'verdict' is peoples opinions based on what was presented in court.
