Your ridiculous plan (20 minutes of silence right?) seem to depend entirely on the fact that: a) all Hull City supporters think like you b) All the Newcastle away supporters will care enough about our plight for some reason to join in with the protest instead of supporting their own team c) The organisers of such a protest have the means of communicating their instructions to every single matchday attendee beforehand to let them know exactly what is happening. Given that it's a big enough ask to get everyone at the KC to comply with a 1 minute silence to mourn/pay respect to dead people even when prompted to do so by the stadium announcer (and by the way half the time these 1 minute silences transcends into an idiotic round of applause rather than respectful silence....) Let me put it this way....there is a far higher probability of Allam suddenly having a complete change of heart and begging fans for forgiveness than the successful execution of your plan. Interesting times.
attitudes like this crease me! fans think that their cheering affects the team................. newsflash - it doesn't fans dont have to be there. many games are played behind closed doors. Teams still win those. THE ONLY reason fans are there, is to create revenue.
The Hull City Supporters Trust inaugural meeting is now being put back a few weeks. We decided that three weeks was a bit too tight to launch a membership scheme and send out all the membership packs, we also took the decision to take board member nominations and vote in the board members ahead of the meeting, so that all members could be involved, rather than just those who attend the meeting. Full details will hopefully be published shortly.
Tony, I think you're right that some action is needed. The club continue to take the piss. However like Chazz says, our silence wouldn't be noticed in amongst the noise from the Newcastle end. An alternative plan would be needed.
As far as the trust is concerned, the FA will rule on the arbitration next month and we expect them to finally put this to bed once and for all. Though AA's ongoing petulant nonsense is deeply annoying, we see no benefit in protesting ahead of the FA decision, it will have absolutely no effect on what AA does and could potentially harm the team.
If as expected the FA tell him where to go, but he carries on ignoring them like he is now, what next? Can we really consider it a victory if the FA keep our name but the club itself don't go along with it and continue ramming it down our throats all the time?
The club are making it clear that they're ploughing ahead regardless. At this point the FA's decision is almost irrelevant. We can't keep hiding behind this "it might harm the team" bollocks, Hull City AFC is disappearing in front of our very eyes and we're just sitting back and watching it happen. (Oh and occasionally sending an angry tweet...)
When the FA reconfirm that the club can't change the name, then having a different name on social media, that can never actually be used as the team name, just makes the club look utterly ridiculously. I also expect that once the decision is confirmed, AA will have one of hussy fits and confirm that he's on his way anyway.
I have massive respect for what CTWD have achieved as you know, but I don't think that's really good enough. We know Assem says what he wants and then does something completely different. He's been on his way out for ages yet we seem no closer to him actually ****ing off, so we can't rely on him just giving up. Equally, the club already looks ridiculous but that doesn't matter to Allam. The most important thing for him is to appear never to go back on his word.
They'll be carrying him out in a box before we see a new owner IMO, we'll then be stuck with his son for god knows how many years. What we ever did to deserve these pair of cretins is beyond me.
You may garish some support for this idea, but the only people who will be effected will be the players. The media have already done the story to death, supporters in the stadium don't all join in at 1904, CTWD does not condone protest in the stadium, Assem Allam does not care what you do, so who else is there to be effected, the team. I am not bothered what you do myself, but my own view is that if a protest cost us 3 points, I would not be a happy bunny, I wouldn't blame Assem I would blame you!
In that case you sorely undervalue the importance of our identity and overvalue the importance of 3 points.
I appreciate what you're saying, but I think the FA reiterating their decision and making it utterly conclusive leaves him nowhere to go and that will finally see the end of this ridiculous idea. If that isn't the case and this bollocks continues beyond the FA decision, then obviously we'll have to think again, but I see no benefit in ramping things up ahead of that decision.
According to the club, there is absolutely zero chance of Assem handing the club down to Ehab, either both the Allam's will remain in charge, or neither of them will be invoved.
That's one of the most stupid posts I've ever read on a football forum. You genuiely think that the fans backing makes zero difference to the team? Have you ever been to a match like? Or spoken to a professional footballer? As I find it absolutely incredible that anyone could makes such a ridiculous statement. Fans backing and vociferous support can make a massive difference both in terms of a lift for their own side and intimidating the away side. Home advantage is caused by fan support ffs. Swap the pattys for fish lad, you obviously need brain food.
Is it something the supporters trust should ask its members rather than deciding as a committee, especially as the committee could change soon?
I have never supported any protest in the stadium. I like thousands of others go to a match with the primary objective of watch a football match being played. For 90 minutes or so I can focus purely on the sport, forgetting all of the politics of life. The fact is that what goes on between the supporters and owners gets put aside for the football. The debates on here have often mentioned the fact that members of CTWD on here have expressed a view that they will still go to support the team even if the name changes. SUPPORT THE TEAM NO MATTER WHAT THE OWNER DOES!!!! If you feel that badly about what he is doing why are you still going? How can you justify going to a FWG meeting when you are prepared to take actions that may cost us points and even in a longer view our league status?
