    Cheers :)

To be fair my mind was made up very young, I have no memories pre-dating my support (my grandfather's brother recruited me a toddler). But I never felt the urge to follow the crowd and support the same team as my mates, however hard they tried to convert me.

Another interesting thing to note regarding the mackem/geordie thing, it can depend on the situation. Bobby Robson for example, born and bred in sacristan and a true "Geordie" legend.

Used to go out with a girl from Trimdon, her family were only into cricket but some of her friends ( didn't like them much ) were smoggies.

Langley Park does ring a bell, think he was born in Sacriston and moved over. Same general area anyway

I am unofficialy the most South Westerly Newcastle supporter in the UK

and you cant judge support on where you live

it might have an impact but living 700 miles away makes you no less of a supporter than if you live on NE1 4ST

saying that theres a few people on here that think otherwise

I swear every American I have ever met asks me whether Guernsey is near London. I think it is the only British city most of them have ever heard of. Geographically the vast majority of them seem to have zero knowledge outside of their own country.

When I explain where Guernsey is I usually say it is in the Channel Islands along with Jersey, thinking that they will relate to that because of New Jersey. I am amazed that nearly all of them have no idea where Jersey is, even the ones who are from there. How could you live in some place called New Jersey or New York and not be interested enough to find out where the place you home is named after is? Strange people those Americans!
