If anyone has an ounce of decency, integrity and morality they will cancel any contract they may have with that seemingly most immoral of organisations News International following reports of their alleged despicable behaviour.

I do not have Sky and the only News International product I purchase is The Times but no more as I cancelled this with my newsagent today and the Grauniad will be my daily paper from now on.

Will you take a stand for morality and decency or do you simply not care?

    Giving up Sky?
Probably a step too far as the alternatives are not great - would miss my sports channels too much

Can I still watch televised games at the pub and watch SSN on freeview? If so, I'll go with that.

I don't buy papers; what those people did was disgusting and the person responsible should be fired.

I don't buy a daily paper. Most news worth knowing is online these days.

Surely you mean a soap box from which I can declare that the majority of football fans have no sense of morality.

Couldn't agree more with you Godders, make no mistake that Murdoch runs the world and we wouldn't even have the option of 'free' online news if he had his way with his support for the 'micropayment' method of obtaining it.
It's a shame that when we have the power to do something about it by sourcing out alternative news etc that so many can't be bothered.

I think it's a little unfair to lump everything NI into the same place as News of the World.

Sky? Murdoch currently owns 40% of it. Clearly he wants more, but if it's anti-murdoch you want to be St Godders, I presume you will also ban yourself from the following Murdoch owned businesses...

Not watching/buying any films done by 20th Century Fox

    Not buying/watching National Geographic

Not using Gamespy website (and about 30 other well known websites)

Not reading the Sun, Times, Sunday Times & NOTW.

Not reading or watching any TV or newspapers in Australia as he owns nearly all of them.

Not reading the New York Post in the States

Not having any shares on the Dow Jones market.

Not reading the Wall Street Journal

Not reading any books published by Harper Collins

and this is just a small taste of what he owns or part owns. I'm sure he's got shares in many of the worlds largest companies from which he draws dividends.

I'd suggest just a boycott of the NOTW. They are the ones responsible, plus of course the private investigators who actually did the phone hacking.

The murdoch empire is manipulative and too powerful to be left unchecked. I have for many years refused to put any money into his coffers. I have never purchased sky, and will never have it. There is more to life than sitting on your arse watching hours of televised sport. The sky money has distorted football in this country, and not for the better. I used to get the times and sunday times, but stopped those a long time ago. I now get the independent or the "i".

it was truly sickeing to watch the whole Murdoch empire switch allegiance from the Labour party to the Tories at the last electionbecause it was clear that Labour would oppose NI taking 100% control of SKY. The Tories had meetings with NI before the election, and guess what when Vince Cable stated that he was going to war with Murdoch his powers to oppose the takeover were transfered to Jeremy Hunt who has very obediently aquiesced and given Murdoch the green light. Andy Coulson (cameron's spin doctor) is allegedly implicated in bribing the police over the phone hacking scandal, which has now broadened out beyond celebs and sports starts to the general public who have experienced great trauma. The NI empire needs a bloody nose, and it is up to the general puiblic to do it. I cannot really beleive that people do not care enough to cancel their SKY subscriptions over this!! :-(

As 60% of Sky is british owned, then hurting Sky hurts the UK economy more than hurting Murdoch.

Its the newspapers which are 100% owned by him and his family. Those are the ones to target.

murdoch wants to buy 100% of SKY - lets make it less profitable so its less attractive to him to buy. Anyone with a guilty concience about the economy can always then spend that money on british made/owned goods and services. Its about switching your spending power away from companies you distrust to companies you have faith in.

So what companies do you have faith in?

    Tesco?
Those owned by tax-dodgers like Phillip Green?

If you think big business, even UK ones are whiter than white, you are deluded.

    CBK,

funny enough I also boycott Tesco and BHS as I dislike Tesco's desire to own every potential site for a supermarket thus preventing competition, and I also do not appreciate Phillip Greens tax avoidance. I agree it is unrealistic to be 100% righteous in your spending, but everyone can make choices which make a difference.

Guys and gals. Lets not get too carried away over this very emotional subject. It is the people that carried out this despicable act we should be angry with and the people that authorised the printing of it. Remember though at this point in time it is alleged wrong doing.
The news of the screws has always been involved in this kind of reporting, the paper is infamous for that and has been as long as I can remember. So it should not be a surprise.
Do not be under any illusion that they are the only paper involved in this kind of reporting.
I agree Murdock's company's is having too much of a say in politics etc. However that is a separate issue. Boycotting Sky will only make it cheaper for him to buy, so it but would be a waste of time.
The reality is that while what has been done is despicable, it will not last long in the minds of large numbers of people unfortunately. It will soon become "yesterday's news"!!
