You might want to do some investigating.......

From what has appeared in the media, and what Hamilton fans state, this guy is similar to Paul Lambert (and we all said "who" when he got the gig a few years ago). I think a lot of Canary fans are quite optimistic today :emoticon-0148-yes:

As a manager, he was an unknown quantity as he had only been with Livingston, Wycombe and Colchester. We knew about his Celtic and Dortmund days as a player, but they mean very little as so many footballers who have become managers have proved over the years.

So why would you say "who?"? If Ryan Giggs was named manager would you say "who?"?

So you are essentially saying that a player who a European trophy medal, as part of a team, once, should be world famous? (having played for two teams that were never dominant forces in European football - compared to Milan, Madrid, Barca et al) and his managerial credentials should nor be called in to question?

Read what I said again - As a manager, he was an unknown quantity...the clue (sherlock) is As a manager.

I never said 'world famous' and I dont expect people in Sao Paolo to have heard of him, however he was a British player playing for a massive club in a key role when they won the biggest club competition in the world. I'm sticking my neck out and saying most British football fans will have heard of him. I know he was relatively unknown for his managerial achievements but that still wouldnt make you say "who?" would it? When Alan Shearer was named Newcastle manager did everyone say "who?"?

Are the users of this messageboard a global conspiracy to wind me up?

<laugh> Nice dose of paranoia you have there :emoticon-0148-yes:

Had PL not played for Dortmund at that time, he would indeed have been "who?" to most in Norfolk. To be honest, I do not follow European football (why would I? I support Norwich) and had no idea he played for them, let alone Dortmund winning the competition. I cannot be alone?? I did know of PL from his Celtic days, in name only though.

I've never heard of him. Admittedly I don't have much interest outside of the Mighty Tigers football speaking. Never been able to get interested in Champs League or Europa (until we qualified) or excited by them.
