    Aaron Gunnarson

Probably, but if we are competing against Cardiff I doubt it will succeed.

Ah well, that's Plan B out of the window!! Plan C anyone?

Cardiff are in major financial trouble hence the selling of big names they put all their heggs in one basket last year in regards getting promoted. There does however seem to be a few others throwing big money about this season.

let bothroyd go as he wouldnt sign as they werent paying enough and have said they wont be able to afford a high % for Bellers again. Couldnt pay Shearer or Haughton enough to join. Chopara has been shipped to Ipswich at a cut price.

So, they've sold one Big Name. Cardiff have wealthy owners, it would be a mistake to think they are in financial dire straits.

In getting rid of Dave Jones they have also said goodbye to a way of doing business. High profile players like Bothroyd, Chopra and Bellamy do not a happy squad make. I think Malky Mackay is a very good coach and will do well at Cardiff especially now they look more like building a cohesive team rather than one of talented but poorly motivated individuals.

Where did you get the info about Shearer and Hughton from?

They aren't well off though. They've barely paid a fee for a player in the past 3 years. They are almost exclusively loans and freebies.

They've made some good signings though.

That depends on your definition of well off. Our owners are worth £280m, are we well off? I would say we are because we have owners that want us to be run properly.

The point I was originally making was that they have freed-up a lot of wages having said a fond farewell to Bothroyd, Chopra, Burke, Bellamy and Oilyvagina. They are now free to offer Gunnarrsson a good package, something that we may not feel able to match given that the anchor round our neck still remains.

Their stadium is the anchor around their neck, hence the lack of transfer funds. I make you right though, they've freed up a lot of room in their "football budget" and so will probably be able to outbid us for Gunnarsson. Do we even want him though? He's got a really long throw but otherwise, he's not as good a midfielder as Corry Evans.

Not true I'm afraid Strovolos, they have lost half their starting XI from last season and they're about to lose Whittingham to Leicester.

Their owners have recently converted £5m of debt into shares and restructured the balance debt of over £20m owed to themselves to buy some breathing space, but they still owe over £30m to the Langston Investment Group operated by Sam Hamann and he's getting impatient for his money and may well call in the debt to regain control of the club.

They are very much in financial dire straits.

Cardiff have been in the **** for a year or so. They pretty much went hell for leather for promotion to solve the money problems but they failed and are in a dire situation. Ridsdale did his usual trick of trying to buy the dream no matter what the cost of failure would be.

Hmm! Didn't realise Hamman had become so agressive or maign as that.

FORMER Bluebirds owner Sam Hammam is ready to work alongside Cardiff City’s Malaysian investors – and wants talks on writing off the Langston debt.

Lebanese businessman Hammam is the representative of Langston Corporation, which issued £24m in loan notes to the football club during his time as owner.

The season has ended and Hammam now wants the debt sorted out.

He has agreed to accept £10m plus £5m for naming rights if a stadium sponsor was found and £5m if City were promoted.

The deadline for that deal was up at the start of this year and Hammam is keen to sort things out for once and all.

He is in regular contact with Cardiff City chairman Dato Chan Tien Ghee – and Hammam wants action and has said to Dato Chan: “Make me an equal partner.”

Hammam says he is willing to write off the Langston debt if the Malaysians go 50-50 with him at Cardiff City.

He would return to the UK, be based at City’s Vale of Glamorgan Resort training headquarters and work with the manager on the football side. The Malaysians would have control of club finances and set budgets. If that isn’t possible, Hammam wants to reach agreement with Dato Chan and his fellow directors.

It looks like things are a little more optimistc for them as well at the moment:

    Cardiff Debt

I'm not convinced Gunnarrsson is what we need anyway, tbh. I think, its in wide positions where we need more options with Treacy my preferred pick. But there again can we afford the £1m plus it would take to get him into the building. Probably not. That might be a play-off challenging line-up:

    Gulasci

    Rosenior Chester Hobbs Dudgeon

    Stewart McKenna Evans Treacey

    Fryatt Simpson

with harper to come on for the last 30 seconds!!

    :emoticon-0136-giggl

Still fancy Pogba or Morrison coming in!

Cardiff have also bid £2M for Goodwillie from Dundee U, whilst Rangers weren't prepared to pay over £1M for him.

Despite the amount of players they've released, and them selling Chopra on the cheap they're not as ****ed as we thought they were. (or at least not until they've continued their spending and ****ed themselves even more).

Poor Anthony Gerrard. He thought he would be a PL player now. Roll up your sleeves Gerrard its gonna be a long hard season. Se you on October 1st. Lol.

Cardiff gambled big time two seasons in a row to get to the PL; now they're going to have to re-finance & I don't think they'll do really well, possibly mid-table.

Whoa don't write us off too quickly. We've got Gerrard back who just wasn't in DJ's good books and he was brilliant for you last season, correct?

Other areas we had/have problems in were left back, but we've signed Taylor who looks like a very good player and can be used elsewhere. Conway replaced Burke.

Earnie's just signed again, and he's probably better than Chopra has been the last couple of seasons.

Goodwillie looks like he could be a good replacement for Bothroyd, if not better!

The Bellamy issue is still ongoing, but it sounds like hes willing to take a large pay cut to come here. Last season he even said he'd play for free!

Honestly I don't know where the money has come from, but the Malaysians have said they're willing to back MM financially.

Just because we're not splashing the cash and getting players on frees instead doesn't make those players bad players, just means we're not being stupid with the money we do have. One or two more players, then a few loans and we're all set.

"Relegation squad" my arse. Might take a while for players to gel but we'll be top 8 I reckon come end of season as it stands, but I'm getting more optimistic with the players we bring in.

Good luck to you lot though next season, I hope you're up there or thereabouts (with Cardiff of course).

Don't read too much into The FRENCH TICKLER's comments dead_passive, he's quite big on sweeping statements.

Reality is that we're a way off knowing what everyone's squads will be at the start of the season, so it's too early to judge anything yet.
