My name went from something to do with Ji to something to do with Jozy! and it would appear the same thing is happening the following window! the player is going! http://rokerreport.sbnation.com/201...idore-mls-portland-toronto-new-york-red-bulls Jozy Altidore is seemingly edging closer towards an exit from Sunderland. The 25-year-old joined the club from AZ Alkmaar and has been largely disappointing during his time on Wearside, four years after an equally poor time in the Premier League with Hull City. It was hoped that Gustavo Poyet's arrival may spark a turnaround in form for the American but it has sadly not proven to be the case. Strongly linked with a move to Lille in the summer, it was thought the French side would return in January with a fresh offer after Sunderland spurned their first attempt. Now ESPN analyst Taylor Twellman has revealed that three separate teams in Major League Soccer are interested in taking the forward home. A number of high profile U.S. Internationals have returned to their domestic league recently including Michael Bradley and Clint Dempsey. Taylor Twellman ✔ @TaylorTwellman Follow Multiple sources tell me Jozy Altidore and @MLS are in discussions about his return this winter with 3 teams applying. #TFC #RBNY #POR However Altidore has not always spoken positively about a return to Major League Soccer, tweeting the LA Galaxy back in November, Altidore said: "really? (sic) Stop blowing up my agents phone then. No means no." Twellman cites Altidore's former club the New York Red Bulls, the Portland Timbers and Canadian outfit Toronto FC as being the three interested parties. The league rules on returning American internationals make for confusing reading, particularly after the recent situation regarding Jermaine Jones and a blind draw between Chicago Fire and New England Revolution. In terms of the financials of the deal, it is likely Sunderland would receive just under half of the £6million they paid Alkmaar for Altidore's services, and he would sign the much coveted ‘Designated Player' deal. Brazilian midifelder Kaka remains the most highly paid player in MLS at present, with Dempsey and Bradley just behind him. With Twellman citing multiple sources, it would seem there is some weight behind this.
£2.5m for Jozy is a good deal. Forget what we paid for him and be pleased we're getting his wages off the bill and a chunk back.
If they can make the ****er one of best paid players in the league they can give us our 6 million back. How ****'s that? He fails us, loses us half what we paid and he gets a lucrative contract. Nee justice in this sport like.
Best player in the league is only on 80 ish grand a week mind mate. Not a huge amount by modern standards. £6m for a fee to the MLS is unheard of, especially for a flop like Jozy.
Still getting a pay rise for failing. It's our lose and his profit. No justice but such is life. If it gets shot of him init.
Which let's face it... The MLS will be absolutely fine with. We should learn from this. Most of us were quick to put him being **** at Hull down to his age... It wasn't. It was because he is in fact... ****.
I was going to say that we are best shot of them both, and that they should both shoot each other!!Better not,though...they'd both miss!!!
I will miss Jozy, this is the right move though, for both parties probably. Always put 100% in and whether people will admit to it or not he played a massive role in keeping us up last year. Won't surprise me if he ends up in Europe again with more success.
With you on that one. Noticed there was not a lot of stick given to Wickham, Larsson and Fletcher when they missed similar chances, or half ones, that have fallen his way. At least if he does go we will have to find another scapegoat and he may get a career back on track.
