Firstly you realise all these people have first names mate? and there is more than one 'Garcia' in football management. In regards to Conte, I didn't realise he had left Juve. I haven't paid attention to the Italian leagues in a few years. I have enough trouble keeping up with the EPL, Bundesliga and watching the occasional La Liga match.
Rudi Garcia did well at Lille and he's got Roma flying high too. But he would still be a big risk managing Arsenal. I'm not saying that we should or shouldn't take such a risk, I just think it needs noting that it's no guarantee that he'd be better than Wenger.
Who's Rudi Garcia? I'm talking about Luis Garcia - current manager of Baniyas FC of the Arabian Gulf League.
Since March 2012 Owen Coyle and Arsene Wenger have received the same number of premier league Manager of Month awards... #stilloneofthebest
I respect Bears opinions. He's easily one of the better posters on here. Out of interest, what don't you like about de Boer? Hiddink maybe, Ancelloti seems possible, Guardiola is available at the end of next season and may fancy a new challenge. De Boer I think could be great - and would bring Bergkamp home, Garcia has done well at Roma. There's plenty of managers who would jump at the chance to manage Arsenal. Approach all of those and one will say yes.
Please stop this. Genuine plea. It's old and so very boring. No wonder this forum has decreased in activity yet again if this is the level of goading you go in for.
In terms of suitability for arsenal, yes they're both on par. In so much as neither of them are good enough to manage a club like ours.
I think Cini made this point elsewhere, but any new manager coming in is not asked to move mountains. In order to match Wenger, he needs to finish fourth and get knocked out in the last 16. Also any new manager is going to have great resources at his disposal so it's a great job really. Most,of the managers listed on that list would thrive here, Wenger did lay a good platform after the stadium move, but the problem is the bloke has no idea on how to take us the next level. Instead of doing the same old ****, we should take the small risk and see if the new man can take us to top. The risk is simply not as big as it's made to be by some.
I'm not goading anybody so drop the accusations. Cini was making the comparison that wenger and Coyle have won the same amount of manager of the month awards, insinuating that there's little between them in terms of management ability. I'm challenging that in the strongest terms possible. It's not goading to have a different opinion and making those accusations gets us nowhere.
We would be far worse off with Coyle in charge and I think you know that. So no they are not on a par at all.
Personally I think people underestimate what it takes to get a team into the top four and past the group stages in the CL. I think Arsenal need to take the step up to the next level, which is why when we do replace Wenger we have to make sure it's with somebody who can do a better job. You say that the risk is not as big as some make out. Personally I think it will be a massive challenge to get it right. We might not be flying high, but there is still a long way to drop and I don't think people really consider that There almost seems to be an attitude of 'we can't do any worse, so we might as well just take a risk and see what happens'
People underestimate how easy it is to get out of the CL group stages? I don't think finishing 1st or 2nd in a group when you're a pot 1 team is particularly difficult. I'd be interested to know how many pot 1 teams haven't made it out of the group stages. It's hard to come 3rd in a group when most of the time, 2 of the teams in your group are rubbish.
Not really. We are seeded in pot one, so it's not that difficult to get out of the group stages, in all the years, I can only remember one tough group, the one with Napoli and Dortmund. As for the top four, again, it's not that difficult. In England, we have the fourth or third biggest wage bill, so we should be finishing in the top four with those resources. Wenger does the bare minimum with that 'achievement. We have got out of the period where we could not splash the cash, so like I said any new manager will have great resources at his disposal. And maybe that guy might not leave huge ****ing gaps in our squad like the blind Frenchmen does season in season out. It's not a massive challenge at all, the next guy is replacing Wenger not Fergie. Before we even used to play great football under Wenger, but now we play this stale tedious passing game. So the next guy does not have to do much to top that, just simply get us play a bit quicker and we would be much better to watch.
I do agree that there are inexcusable gaps in our squad. It hasn't been that long since we've been able to splash the cash, but it's been long enough to buy a CB as nd a DM. As for expenditure equalling league position, it doesn't always equate. Liverpool, Spurs and Utd have spent huge sums on their squads to finish outside of the top 4. I'd say that Chelsea and City who vastly outspend the rest should realistically finish 1st and 2nd. Ultimately though, I do agree that we should be doing better than we are given our resources.
ok lets settle this once and for all. with Wenger we know we are likely to finish 4th each year, occasionally we may have a run at the top for the title like we did last year, and we could have a run in the cups. we attract good players as we normally play attractive football and are competitive in all competitions, we attract good players because Wenger is respected the club is loyal to him and he is loyal to us and doesn't **** off when it gets tough. with another manager we could finish below 4th each year and may never make top 4 again - because we would lose all of our best players we may never have a run at the top for the title - because we would lose all of our best players we could get knocked out of cups early - because we would lose all of our best players we would lose all of our best players [for the reasons above] and we would not attract good players anymore as we may not be able to play attractive football and we would not be competitive in all competitions as we would have such a mediocre squad, and as we sack/change our manager every season we are not respected. in essence do we want to be like every club in the Premier League that normally finishes below us ? do we stick or twist - you decide.
Thanks mate! DeBoer is a tricky one. He's certainly done a good job at Ajax but it's hard to judge based on the poor quality of the opposition in the Dutch League. Ajax are clearly the biggest club in the Netherlands with the strongest resources. Hiddnk has been successful pretty much everywhere. He's certanly a TOP quality manager and could do a good job. I would love Guardiola (and think he will come to the EPL eventually - but probably not for a few more years. Hopefully he will end up at Arsenal). His sides play great football - on the downside they do have a tendency to dive. Klopp would be awesome seeing as what he's done repeatedly at Dortmund. It's certainly not going to be as easy to improve on Wenger as some on here are making out.
Or with a new manger - We could finish higher than fourth - Get past the Last 16 - Sort out our injury problems - Play better football - Not leave massive gaps in our squad - develope some of the players who have stalled in their development And I swear you wanted Wenger gone a few months ago, and was calling him all sorts of names, what's changed for you to suddenly back the blind Frenchmen again?
