I see there has been yet another terrorist attack, Paris this time round.

This time at some magazine offices. 12 dead. All 3 gunmen are on the loose.

What the hell has happened these past few months?

 

The video footage of them shooting the policeman is quite horrific.

 

Apparently they went through the offices, asking for certain people and murdered them specifically rather than just randomly opening fire, just disgusting.

 

I'm going there this weekend.

 

yeah i saw that , they shot him to the ground then walked over and shot him in the head - the BBC show them returning to the car afterwards .

If you do not agree with something you have the right to question it.

That is what a satirical magazine does. It mocks and ridicules in an attempt to add to an ongoing moral debate.

Nobody should ever be executed because someone didn't like a cartoon they drew.



And that is what has happened today.

It's shameful, it really is.

RIP to all victims of this appalling wrong.

I've just been speaking to the lady that lives opposite me and they've got an apartment that overlooks the attacked building apparently.

Her and her husband are flying out tomorrow, which will be a bit odd I dare say.

As for the arseholes that carried out this attack?

Absolute cowards.

This comes days after spineless German politicians condemn PEGIDA for having the audacity to protest against this 7th century bollocks.

RIP to 12 people who died. Truly awful.

 

Agree truly awful but supporting PEGIDA can't be the answer. Right wing movements gaining power always ends in tears, countless examples of that in recent history.

 

Ironically, Islam has far more in common with the far-right than PEGIDA ever will.

There are demonstrations in the centre of Lyon this evening by normal people in support of free speech and condemning killing because some Muslims may find cartoons offensive

 

Proper upset with this. I used to live 5 mins by foot from there.

I ****ing hate religion of any kind but unfortunately for good muslims, Islam is the new Christianity. Killing in the name of...some ****ing imaginary being. They killed cartoonists for **** sake. CARTOONISTS.

And as liberal as I think I am, and even though I will never ever vote right wing I'm getting very tired of those defending against generalisation.

How can you expect people not to when it's always the same ****ing group that is the cause.

And besides, it's all good asking people not to put all muslims in the same bag but where the **** are the good muslims? We never hear from them. Some fat imam will condone it and that's it. If **** really hits the fan in a religious war, you can bet your sweet ass all good british muslims will side with their faith. Possibly because they'll be scared to do otherwise but still.

If you are muslim and don't want people to generalise then ****ing make yourself heard and help us stop this.

My grandfather always said there would be an issue with muslims. that was 40 years ago. It's not going to stop.

Sadly, I feel like the only solution is for Christianity to rise again and make themselves heard. Which as an atheist isn't exactly my sort of plan. But it's most likely going to happen.

There is a time and a place for everything and posting opinions on such contentious issues on a thread which started out showing respect to people who have lost their lives is, in my opinion, inappropriate.

 

Killing in the name of an imaginary being is frankly idiotic. Sad that drawing a picture ridiculing an imaginary being can get you killed. Sad day for common sense all round.

 

This thread should be closed, it was never going to go anywhere but towards bigotry.
