I can't believe I'm about to say this... I thought £35m for Carroll was fair for the following reasons...

Chelsea had just paid £50m for a completely out of form Torres.

It didn't matter who Liverpool went for they were going to be bent over the barrel that late in the window, with that much cash to spend.

Carroll was in cracking form at Newcastle.

That said... Do I think Carroll was worth £35m... Do I ****. Point is the Torres deal was the biggest bit of insanity I've ever witnessed. Liverpool basically came out of it with a better player, a young English one at that, and £15m change.

£30m is a lot of money for licking balls about.

Northern they practically swapped Torres (£50m) and Babel (£8m) for Carroll (£35m) and Suarez (£23m).

In that light they did pretty well I think. If in any doubt bare in mind they sold Carroll and Suarez for a combined fee in the region of £90m? The Torres deal was insane as it had been clear he was in decline for the past 6-12 months.

Agreed mate. When you think about Andy Carroll for £35m it's staggering and ridiculous.

When you look at the context as I tried to set and as you more eloquently set out it was actually very shrewd business.

He was instrumental in that to be fair which only goes to show how much of a disappointment he was aside from that when you consider how big a flop he is seen as now.

    Hope you're well matey.

Nay, Carroll was injured and he'd managed about 10 goals in the top flight in his career. Dalglish thought Downing to Carroll, was a recipe for 30+ goals per season... £55m that mistake cost him. <laugh>

In hindsight, they have done ok from the deal as they managed to fetch in Suarez as well but make no mistake about it, LFC regret every penny of that transfer!

Torres to Chelsea could have worked out a lot better, a lot of people still thought he was a beast, just he wanted away, Abramovic won't regret a penny of that because Torres got them the all important goal to get past Barcelona and that's all Abramovic ever wanted, that ECL trophy!

Ok mate, it all still goes on and always looking for the silver lining. Hope all is well in your camp?

Agree, the man was a total flop and looked so disinterested at times. Gone back to his roots now so it may well work for him but personally, not fit to lace super Kev's boots up..<ok>

Comm's a mackem. I think he was just referring to the fact that Ant and Dec's toenails have more presence, charisma and knowledge than you in front of screen.

Quick tip. Do things in more than one take.

Aye mate, being a destitute, down and out writer suits me. I'm considering growing a goatee, wearing a beret and smoking cigarillos. <yikes>

Haha, yeah the goatee can sometimes work. I paid the best part of 2 grand over xmas buying a near new Hasselblad 203FE film camera from Sweden. Reverting back to the old days for photographic pleasure, I see it as a step in the right direction..<ok>

Bet it's a beauty mate. When drunk I'll tell anyone who's listen the only thing standing between me and an oscar is my inability to shell out £2200 for a black magic digital cinematography camera and a nice prime 50mm lens.

Realistically there's slightly more limiting me than that, my lack of talent doesn't help for one. :emoticon-0107-sweat

Haha, never doubt you talent mate. I was selling my oil paintings back in 74 as a 17 year old, talking like a Durham Rembrandt and then battering the **** out of someone later in the boxing gym. All these years around, I still take beautiful photos in my eyes, my hands are still fast as fcuk but to care for someone like I have done for the last few years is my pinnacle.

You will get your break mate, believe me, you will..<ok>
